Online Appointment status

Online Appointment status

Hi all, Need to add functionality to website so visitors can schedule 1-time appointments online.
I found a post from several years back, stating that an extension for this would be difficult at best. Wondering if things have changed since then?
Anyone have any suggestions for this type of functionality working with WYSIWYG 17?
Hoping for something similar to the following that would alert the business via email and send confirming email to customer.

This is not specific to the software and will require a custom script.
