90 second website builder
90 second website builder
disclaimer: I own the lic for wysi 17 and have purchased earlier versions as well. But! the late great 90 sec guy makes excellent video tutorials for us attention DD types. How reliable are his tutorials? I just cannot follow the ones Pablo makes-- my mind drifts and I find myself thinking about baseball or bikini girls. So, slumming with Greg at 90 sec? Yay or Nay? Also, what's the verdict on breakpoints vs fluid container style? Which one?
Re: second website builder
I have spend a lot of time creating these tutorials.
What exactly is wrong with my tutorials?
How can I improve the information?

Hi Brian. You can follow the videos that Greg has done for 90 sec... though he stopped making them a while ago, so they doesn't cover the latest new functions in wwb.brianluce wrote: ↑Sat Oct 15, 2022 7:51 am disclaimer: I own the lic for wysi 17 and have purchased earlier versions as well. Re: 90 second website builder
Pablo, nothing is wrong with your tutorials, the problem is me. I'm a terrible student. Having said that, afaik your tutorials are static and text based no? Like a manual. 90 second Gary uses full motion video and they're brief-- that's huge, Chekhov said "brevity is the sister of talent". Gary outlines the topic and demonstrates how to get you going. He essentially jump starts you into the software and once you're up and running you can start filling in some of the details as you need them. I sampled some of the other video tutorials by 3rd parties and they're not good-- they have about 10 minutes of meat stretched into an hour of video. Who has that much time? In a perfect world I'd have a lite version of your software, like imovie and then once you get that working you upgrade to the pro version. I used to do video editing and that's the approach a lot of us used. Like a bike with training wheels.
Re: 90 second website builder
Unfortunately, I do not have much time or the skills to create video tutorials myself. But I will keep this in mind, maybe one day I find someone who can do this for me.
Re: 90 second website builder
@brian,
What particular topics would you like to see covered? WB has so many options that it would be virtually impossible to cover every option/topic. I have made a few myself and plan on making more so ideas are welcome.

Re: 90 second website builder
Maybe people could work together on this? Experts making a plan together and only after the sketch record it? I think crispy68 has superior technical skill and for me wwonderfull jumps out in keeping things simple to explain...

I learned a lot from the Greg Hughes videos and even more from Dapson Ishmael. I'm no virtuoso or expert, but aside from reading the forum and keeping notes, that is how I have learned anything.
Also, plan on many, many experiments. Keep note of the successes and failures, too. This forum is invaluable for troubleshooting, as much is not obvious at all. Many thanks to our hosts and friends.

Re: 90 second website builder
I would love a simple "Make a simple website in 6 minutes" video. Talk us through a simple start to finish building of a responsive site. No music, no jokes, just a quick narrated screen video tutorial. Once a person does that, THEN they can get into the weeds and start unlocking the powerful features of the software.
Or, GH's 16 minute responsive video is good. Take his script and do it with the new upgraded version 17. Here's his: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0f7L2yPNDb8&t=156s

Re: 90 second website builder
Hmmm..in 6 minutes? That would depend on how basic of a site you would want to build. It would also be assuming that users already know how to use many of the objects in WB before building otherwise you could easily spend 6 minutes going over layout grids, fonts, headers, footers, effects, breakpoints, etc.I would love a simple "Make a simple website in 6 minutes" video. The other concern is trying to cover as much as what users would want to see. A video could be made and at the end you say to yourself "well, he didnt cover this or that and was hoping to learn more about whatever". It's hard to know what everyone wants to learn about without specifics.

Re: 90 second website builder
As @crispy had said is true. Some of us are becoming experts not because we watch more videos but because we have a passion for website building and attentive to learning from out sources and even if it is a text posts from @pablo. There are times when even a hint is enough for us and there are also times when you need a full basic tutorial, but the advanced things are more like advanced options which need more understanding of what people actually need. So I would say tutorials for advanced features or advanced uses can be made by The Experts of WWB.
But the basic responsive website making should not have been a major issue as @pablo and others have hundreds of templates in paid and free sections. The kinds of website I saw some users make gave me a vision on how basic people want their website to be. Even @pablos templates look much advanced than those websites to be honest. But as people have different taste and different level of knowledge on flex and layouts and responsive webdesign they start to make websites looking like a poster or a Boucher or something.
Basics I still think are already covered or people would have requested these kind of videos very long ago. Yet if it requires such videos then time has value so 20$ template and knowing webdesign and development from a professional is not the same thing nor does it have the same value. I would request you to again check @pablos templates and learn. If we can be busy and learn it then so can you @brianluce. All you need to do is concentrate and forget about this what you had written.

Instead of looking at those circles you can try looking more at the responsive squares of the websites layout by opening WWB and seeing this post from @pablo http://www.wysiwygwebbuilder.com/layout_modes.html. Remember nothing comes without hard work. And time is valuable for everyone.
Re: 90 second website builder
Those tutorials don't work for me. Period. 90 WB's are brilliant. Perhaps I'm the only person on the planet who has this issue. But judging by the activity levels in the forums and the dearth of 3rd party tutorials I'd have to conclude, as John Lennon said, "I'm not the only one". this software has never penetrated the market to the degree that it should have. I believe this is a great software because it's user friendly and is not tied to some hosting service. So to quote Fermi, where is everyone? It's possible the marketing and support are the obverse of the actual software: a winning, user friendly app with a blunt object tasked with marketing and support. However if y'all are getting rich and WYSI is the talk of tech blogs, then ignore these comments-- though I was asked for an opinion.wwonderfull wrote: ↑Sun Oct 23, 2022 3:06 pm As @crispy had said is true. @Brianluce,
I'd be happy to put something together. I will try to find a simple example of a website and create a video on how to create it in WB. Anything in particular you would like to see or know about?
