I had three questions, but I got two of them figured out, this one I have no idea how to fix.

it works fine in light

Dark looks much better, but the menu is in back of the images. and I tried all the tricks to get them in front

Unfortunately, that is how 'invert' works. It simply inverts the element.
The only way to solve this is by using styles instead.

Instead of using 'invert' for the menu, use styles.

Or make sure that the menu doesn't overlap other (inverted) elements.
