Replace image, keep link / Table cell editing

Post by fredphoesh »

Hello peeps,
I've been tweaking my start page and have encountered a few issues with editing the table which has cells each containing a small image.
Please see the videos. (I apologise about the repetition, I did these videos at different times, so there is some overlap)
I have a question - can one replace an image but keep the link the same.
I also have a few problems:
1/ After using PREVIEW, the selected image in one of the cells is impossible to distinguish from other, unselected images in other cells... this makes it very hard to know which image you have selected. IE ALL images appear selected with boxes around them. One cannot get rid of the all selected table of images unless you press UNDO or close the project and reopen it. Something about doing a PREVIEW creates this problem.
2/ the grid sometimes changes vertical spacing significantly, the cells sometimes jump to being almost twice as high as before - with no apparent reason. I have to try replicate this so I can let you know what the steps are to recreate this.
3/ the images in the cells all have hyperlinks... Cutting one of these images and pasting to a different cell loses the hyperlink. The links are definitely on the images and not the cell... so surely the hyperlink should follow with the image no matter where it goes?
4/ drag dropping an image from one cell to another does not work at all.

It looks like you have inserted the images via rich text, which is standard Windows functionality (RTF), so I have no control over how this works.
If you look more closely you will see that these resize handles are different than the ones that WWB displays. The text editor is richedit and although it supports images, Microsoft has not done a very good job making it user friendly to edit them. especially for tables.
It is better to use WWB images instead and drop them into the table cells.

But, please keep in mind that HTML tables are not meant to be used for layout purposes. Maybe that is how it was done in the 1990-ties. But modern websites use Layout grids.
Or if all you want is a grid of images then you can also use a photo gallery. A table are not the right tool for this.

Hi Pablo, thanks for the response. I import the images using the RH mouse click within the cell on WYSIWYG and choose Import Image... so I don't know if this is rich text, is it?

I will try those options, thanks.

Hi Pablo,
I have been trying but cannot change the Layout grid to have 7 equal sized cells. Is this not possible?
thanks,
Mark.

Why not use a standard photo gallery?

Hi, yes, I am trying that now, seems good, but if I need to make changes, I cannot drag drop, and also it's not a multi row thing, so I have to have one gallery for each row of 7 columns... not the end of the world, but not as easy as just having a grid which you can drag and drop and move things easily... but it seems it's NOT so easy 😁
Anyhow, I have to go out now, to celebrate ARGENTINA!!! Woo hoo....

You can set the number of columns in the photo gallery. Any images that exceed the column count go to the next row.
