How can I change the background color of the layout grid when hovering over with the mouse?

please help me how to set a transition in the form of- when the mouse cursor enters the area so that the background color of the layout grid changes

There is no option to set transition to a layout grid column because layout grids are for layout purposes, they are not meant for decoration.
For example, by default the column does not have height so it will not get mouse events.
