Display problems Master Page

Post by PhoenixAs »

Hi guys,

I am facing a WWB 18 puzzle ... I have created a master page with a header consisting of 2 layout grids, position sticky as in the template "Liquor". In addition nested layout grids as "footer floating".

On the master page page and in the draft layout everything works. As soon as I embed the master page into another page under "Page Properties - Miscellaneous - Select Master Page", the footer jumps up in the design layout and when I preview / publish the page, it disappears completely.

Only the sticky header remains visible. Instead, a ">." appears above it. I am at a loss.

My project has 30 pages where the footer is different. The index page has the date of the last change, the others do not (See Demo: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... sp=sharing and under "car dealership" the first three pages.

With Adobe Muse it all worked without any problems! As already once without success here criticized, there is apparently NO, or UPDATED tutorial for Master Pages ... I need help.

With regards

It is not completely clear where in your projetc I need to look to see the problem?
The project has many pages so I have no idea where to start looking.
I could not find "car dealership" anywhere in the project.
Can you please be more specific?

Also, can you please read this before sharing your project. That will save me a lot of time, and you will have a solution quicker...

This usually indicates that there is (invalid) custom HTML code on the page.

You have too many floating footers.

On your master page, you have a bunch of nested grids one of which you also have set to a floating footer. Also, you have a floating footer just for the 480 breakpoint. Remove this. I believe you should have only 1 floating footer. Once this is removed and you fix the other grid it works.

Hello Pablo,

the pages I meant can be found in the Website Manager under the heading "autohaus.html". They are called:

1. unser-autohaus.html
2. das-team.html.
3. anfahrt.html.

The rest should show you the complexity of my project. I hope you can solve my problem.

Many greetings from Germany

Did you read the suggestions of crispy68?
There should only be one footer otherwise they will overlap / conflict with each other.
The footer can be reused in breakpoints.

The next time you share a projetc please try to follow the forum rules, that will make it much easier for you to help.
It will take a lot of extra time having to go through all your pages and the properties of the objects to figure out what you have done.
If you have a problem, try to focus on the issue only. Keep it simple!

Nested floating footer created with WWB 17.4.2 works also in WWB 18.

Newly created nested floating footers with WWB 18.3.0 cause these problems.

I think with the hundreds of thousands of possible settings, millions of variations, there is a serious BUG somewhere.

I'm sorry, nested footers are not supported. It is not correct. It was not designed to work like this. It's a flaw in your layout.
It does not make sense to have nested footers. Please keep it simple.

Note that a footer is basically a simplified layer.
This is from the help:
Nested layers are not officially supported because of the complexity of layers. Standard layers may work, but advanced features may not work as expected. Try to limit the use of nested layers as much as possible.

The reason why your footer is disappearing when previewed is not due to having nested layout grids but because you have "Footer1200" set to footer(floating) but you also have an internal grid (LayoutGrid9) also set to footer(floating). This should only be set to floating.

However, you should really only have 1 footer(floating). Why not simply add the contents of what you have in the footer 480bp inside the footer1200 and hide them in the other breakpoints where they are all inside just 1 floating footer?
