Full image on index page

Post by timenetza »

Hi,

I'm trying out one of the older templates, shangai, that is available on the WB website, and would like some advice on how to best place this image (from Unsplash) on my index page - i.e replace the Shangai image with this one: (I'll credit image owner in final design)
https://unsplash.com/photos/sQIsk1ceA8s
I tried online resizing of the image (it's original size is 4016 x 6016 ) - but not happy with result.
I'd appreciate any advice on how to "tweak" the layout grid not to distort the image when previewed/published.

PS I'm not a web designer...just trying to create my own Small Business website (and gain a bit more knowledge) :D :D :D

Appreciated.
Thanks.

You can change the background image in the 'Style' properties of Layout grid.

Hi Pablo,
Thanks for the prompt response.

Yes, I did change it in there.
I've also set mode to image and image only, "Repeat" to none, horizontal to centre, vertical to centre and tried all the various settings (cover, contain, parallax etc) in the "size" dropdown.
Previewed each change - it's still not displaying entire image.

Am I missing something else?

Thanks.

It is difficult it help you without seeing what you have done.
Do you have a demo?

Also, what do you expect to happen?

OK..in a nutshell, I did the following;
  • 1. Installed the shangai template
  • 2. Changed the image location in "Style"
  • 3. Tried the various settings in size, mode etc.
My expectation is to have the new image displayed in full - which it's not doing.

Can I save the entire project as a zip(including the Unsplash image) and share it with you?

Thanks

What exactly do you see? Why did you change the default settings?

No, I just need a small demo project otherwise it may take me a lot of time to figure out what you have done.

For further details about how to share a project file, please see this FAQ:

As far as I can see it works as expected.
The image you have used is portrait so it will never be fully visible, because the browser window is landscape.
So, you will either have empty space on each sides or the image is clipped.

Your welcome. As a Moderator I generally check "New" members IP, email address for the possibility of just being "Spam" and delete when it comes back as such in this case it was email was the giveaway.
