Digital business card/Share buttons

Post by thisazlife »

I'd like to create a business ecard. Do we have any extensions that assist with that? How about "share" buttons?
I could almost figure out how to do it myself but can't figure out how to create a button for text and email that include a value such as a website link. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!

What exactly do you mean by "Business eCard"? Is this a HTML feature?

In 'Ready-to-use-Javascript' there is a "FaceBook share button" There are also links to twitter, linked etc.
And you can add a link to images, buttons, icons etc.

Examples:

This is a business card and I think you want to create it using HTML CSS

It is very easy to create with "card tools" buttons and proper margin and padding tricks. It is also possible to create it with layout grids and even flex grids or even sections tool.

Hi thisazlife. I made a very simple one for me and some customers. In WWB with layout grids. Standard size for smartphones with links and a QR-code.

There is no extension for this but see the following couple of links that may be of use or you can create your own in WB as suggested.

Yes it is HTML, very common in the US for people like Real Estate Agents to share their info electronically. A digital business card is created for pc and mobile. (That part I have no problem creating.) A "Share" menu and QR code are ususally included, that's the part I am having trouble with. I see your example from 'Ready-to-use-Javascript' but I don't find a script that adds all the buttons in a slide-out like in your examples. The "AddThis" product is no longer in service, FYI.

Thanks, I can create the actual card but the share buttons are an issue.
An ecard for example, might have an email share button, when the button is clicked it would open email and enter text and link in the emai body to be shared. Same with text or a Facebook message.

Thanks, I actually use vCard which is different then a digital ecard.
The ecard should have share buttons that, for example, open email and and enter text and link in body of email so I can quickly share the card to others. Same with text, click text button and my text app would open and fill out a message with my website link, all I have to do is enter their phone number. FB messenger, etc. The receiver can also use the share buttons to send to others as referral. QR code is often added for quick access to the link/website. Dibiz looks like it might be what I'm describing, I've looked at several of these. I'm thinking it should be fairly easy to create and eliminate the need for 3rd party. Thanks!

Yes! This is an ecard. What I'd like to see is when you click your email, it opens email app and adds text/link to body of email.
Same with text, which I don't see you added on your ecard, the phone/text number would be clicked, text app would open, and in the message text/link would auto populate with text and link, so then just a phone number needs to be entered and send. Same with FB messenger, etc.

You can do this with standard links: link to -> email or link to -> phone

WWB does not have any clipboard feature yet.

Thank you, I've actually been to those sites! The issue is that I'm not a coder so I struggle to figure it all out but I'll give it a try. It would be nice to see WWB at some of these features.

Thank you. I actually found some code I like and I can get it to work if I add to HTML from WWB Toolbox but I'd really like to add the html/js to a button so it matches my others, is there a way to add html/js to a button? I dont' see it.

Also I like this idea of grabbing the URL but if I wanted to hvae a button always copy to clipboard a specific URL link, how would I change the code below to hardcode a URL?

-------------------------
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<body>

<button onclick="copyToClipboard()">Copy URL Link to Share style="display:inline-block;width:269px;height:40px;z-index:6;">Copy URL Link to Share</button>
<script>
function copyToClipboard(text) {
var inputc = document.body.appendChild(document.createElement("input"));
inputc.value = window.location.href;
inputc.focus();
inputc.select();
document.execCommand('copy');
inputc.parentNode.removeChild(inputc);
alert("URL Copied.");
}
</script>

</body>
</html>

You can add custom code via the HTML tools: https://wysiwygwebbuilder.com/add_html.html

You can add an onclick to a button even via 'Events'

UPDATE: So gave it a try, I"ll look at it again but doesn't seem to work as I thought it did from your last comment.
If I add the js script to my button via object html, inside the Tag, removing doc type and body I can't figure out how the onclick calls the object html.

It works, if you do it the correct way:
1. Add the JavaScript function between the head tags.
2. Add the function call in the event

OK, I added the script to object html
I go to the button > events > add > onclick?? I don't see function call. I see onclick javascript but doesn't seem to be a way to add my js.

UPDATE: I think I got it! I added the fuction for button onclick into the code and put it just before the script. Seems to be working!
