You do not have to install Font Awesome. The software does this for you.

That means Font Awesome like Google Fonts installed locally? Or am I not understanding that correctly?

I am not sure what you are asking.
How is this related to Google Fonts?

You do not have to install FontAwesome manually, it is done automatically when you install the software.

It's just about privacy policy:
Font Awesome (local hosting)
"This site uses Font Awesome to display fonts uniformly. Font Awesome is installed locally. There is no connection to Fonticons, Inc. servers. For more information about Font Awesome, please see the Font Awesome privacy policy at: https://fontawesome.com/privacy."

There are no external links to Font Awesome in your website. All icon libraries are 'local'. So, there are no privacy issues.
