Email help on forwarding to main email account.

Post by Kash2001 »

Yes email processing is ok with Wysiwygwebuilder but forwarding on to your main email address I cant get right. Well at least I'm having difficulty, so our email is with hotmail, and the hosting site has its own email setup where you can see emails. The php form emails the 'contact us' details to the hosters email no problem, but there's no ability to forward the email on to our main email business account.

If I've missed something then it would be good to know, but I've tried forwarding in 'more' under php contact submit form. I am just trying to use the hosters email server as a pass through to our email account. But cant get emails to land in our inbox!

Any help very much appreciated.

Hi Pablo,

Thanks for the reply, yes I've read this and the server email is receiving the emails ok, which isn't much help, as I need them directed to our business email address. The server email has no automatic forwarding ability, that I've found. Is there a way to email directly to our business email address, Ive tried CC to our email, using the php email under 'more' but nothing comes into the email address.

Any further help appreciated.

Please note that this has nothing to with the software.
The script itself does not care which email address you use. It is usually a server related issue.

So, you will need to find out if the email is really not sent, or that maybe is blocked by a (spam) filter.
If it is not sent then you will need to find out why the server does not sent the email. For example, it may not be allowed to send emails using these settings.
Based on that information you can then update the properties of the form,.

Hi again, ok thanks for that. I assume the script itself doesn't can't submit directly to the business email address and must go through the hosting email servers? As when I put the business email into the php smpt detail along with the hosting site server settings, I do not get an email to either account.

Many thanks.

Correct, that is how all HTML forms work.

You will need to find out (by contacting the host) why the email is not sent.
I cannot help, if I do not know what the exact error is. See also the FAQ.

From reading your post what your looking to do is to "forward" the form using the host/server email address to your Hotmail. This is not something you can do directly in the software but with your host. Each host will have there own way to do so and may include a extra fee on top of your plan.
Take a look at the following url. Although it is related to groove it includes external links to many host/servers which give help to configure what you are asking note as mentioned it may require a extra fee GoDaddy being one who charges for this. Hope this helps.

Hi BaconFries, many thanks for the input, yes all I'm looking to do is to insert a java script to just email me the contact details of the enquiry and their note to us. I'm not bothered if it misses out the hosting web server for email and lands with our business email. But I dont think the onboard wysiwyg java script for email will allow me to do so.

Many thanks

When you use the form in WWB it uses php to process on the server not javascript . As mentioned forwarding can be done with your server. If your not concerned about going through your host then you could just use mailto (not recommend) see the following to why Why doesn't the 'mailto' form action work on all PCs? Personally I would recommend using the form within the software as it is more secure, looks more professional than just a email address on the page but it's your choice.
