Issue with images appearing lighter

Post by kevindef »

Hi,
I’m having an issue with images appearing lighter when placed inside layers and published.
The image is all good when viewed inside WWB, but the image appears with a colour overlay of some sort when the page is published.

This is only happening with WWB18, across all projects.
Not sure what’s going on, but I cannot find a fix.

Any advice?

Can send a before and after screenshot. Just let me know how.

Maybe you have set the opacity of the layer?

If you need further assistance, then please share a demo project so I can see all your settings.

Hi Pablo,

As per your request, I'm sharing the link to our demo project, which highlights the issue we've encountered with images within layers: http://site.demo-defranszesq.com.au/

Upon thorough investigation, we've identified that the problem specifically occurs with images in JPEG format, as opposed to those in PNG format. The demo link provides a comparative view of both JPEG and PNG images, which should help illustrate the issue more clearly.

Regarding your query about the opacity settings of the layer, I can confirm that the opacity is set at 100%. All layer settings have been consistently maintained as per our standard practices over the years.

Please take a moment to review the demo and let me know if you have any further questions or need additional information.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

When it is asked to provide a "Demo" it is not a link/url to the page/site it means a copy of your project the .wbs file this is so it can be opened in the software. Just looking at the source html or screenshots doesn't show anything. Please read the following on this.
"So, when you run into a problem while creating your website and you need our help, we usually ask for your project file (wbs) so we can see what you have done."

The software uploads all images "AS IS" , this means that if the image does not look correct in the browser that you have probably saved it in a format is not web-safe or maybe you have applied too much compression, so the colors are affected.
To solve this you will have to open the images in an image editor and select save as jpg (web compatible).

This is unrelated to WWB.

With no disrespect, we are master of our craft. We have been working with graphic software’s such as Adobe illustration and CorelDRAW for decades. So please trust me when I say that the images is pixel perfect and of the highest quality. You can see it yourself in the files I have provided.

Up until now, we had no issues with WWB and image quality, not until WWB18.
The images looks perfect until it’s uploaded to the WWB and the published.

The files will be uploaded "AI IS". they are not modified by the software in any way.

It look the same when displayed directly in the browser:
http://site.demo-defranszesq.com.au/ima ... age_J3.jpg

If you load the files directly in your local browser then you will see the same issue. Just drag & drop the files onto the browser window.

So, i still think there is something wrong with the file.
This has nothing to do with WWB18.

Thanks Pablo,
Let me go through it with a fine tooth comb and check if there's anything we have missed at our end.

I downloaded the wbs file and images. The JPG and PNG do not look the same on my laptop - and that is outside the WBS file. The JPG's look much lighter. I am using Faststone Image viewer to view them, but it's the same if I use MS photos.

Inside the WWB program, they also look different.

Hi there,

I wanted to extend my sincere gratitude for your unwavering support and patience as we navigated through the recent challenge of the washed-out overlay effect on our images. Your assistance during this time has been invaluable.

After thorough investigation, we discovered that the root cause of the issue was on our end. It appears that the images were processed and saved on a machine primarily used for designing printing material, which had its embedded colour profiles set to CMYK. Despite our designer exporting the images in RGB format, the default CMYK setting in the Adobe software inadvertently altered the image colour profile to its default settings, leading to the washed-out appearance when viewed in a web browser.

There you have it. Even with decade of experience behind us, s#@t happens.

My apologies for doubting WWB18 and for any inconvenience caused.

We are taking steps to ensure such an oversight does not recur, and we deeply appreciate your understanding and support during this process.

Thank you once again for your cooperation and assistance.
