Help with image publishing options

Post by rongreen »

I am close to being ready to publish my project for the first time and need some input regarding publishing settings regarding the images. First, I have 8 galleries and each one currently grabs images from a local folder under alljoyjewelry (e.g. earrings, hearts, pendants, rings, etc.). Before publishing I will be changing each gallery to obtain the images from the server. Secondly, many of the pages also contain images that were pulled from a folder under alljoyjewelry called sitesupportimages. My questions are:

1) regarding the galleries, do I create identical folders on the webserver and copy images from each gallery into each one?
2) regarding the other support images, do I create a folder called sitesupportimages on the webserver and the publish tool will take care of transfering the images to it, or do I need to again load that folder on the server with them?
3) Is my goal to have the galleries loaded from the server and the siresupport images loaded by the publishing tool even realistic, or is it that you can only have one way or the other? I really want to have the folder structure on the webserver mirror my local drive structure. I need this because the galleries will be frequently changing.
4) with regards to the galleries, will I be able to drop new images, or delete them, from their folders and the pages will reflect those changes when the pages are refreshed? Or, will I need to go back into the project and make the changes there and republish?

Thank you in advance doe your help.

If you load the images from a folder on the server, then it can be any folder.
2) regarding the other support images, do I create a folder called sitesupportimages on the webserver and the publish tool will take care of transfering the images to it, or do I need to again load that folder on the server with them?
I assume you are using the option . In that case, the files will be loaded from the specified folder.
In this case, no local images will not be published for the gallery.
3) Is my goal to have the galleries loaded from the server and the siresupport images loaded by the publishing tool even realistic, or is it that you can only have one way or the other? You can set a different online folder for each gallery.
4) with regards to the galleries, will I be able to drop new images, or delete them, from their folders and the pages will reflect those changes when the pages are refreshed?
Yes, if you select ''get images from a folder on the server'

Thank you in advance doe your help.

Thank you! One more question. For the form of the path, would I just name the path under the root alljoyjewery folder, for example "earrings", "siteimages", etc.? Or will I need to be specify the full path such as "/alljoyjewelry/earrings", etc.? Thanks again.

The path should be relative to the current folder (where the page it).
