deskPDFStudioXE

Post by rogerl »

Hello fellow Forum members.
I have had this program, deskPDFStudioXE for a long time and hold a legitimate key. A great bit of software but then a series of events took place, Company sold to Soda and withdrew software so no access to server for retrieval.
Soda replaced software with their own version which was rubbish and I deleted.
Windows got corrupted so I reinstalled then realised I had no backup of the full install package for this program only an installer which needs access to their server (which no longer exists).
Hence this desperate call to anyone who may have the full installation package for this program saved somewhere out there.

Although searched if you still cannot find it maybe you can request or send an email to them to get the previous version.

The type of software you used I also had used too. Although now I use Master PDF editor or more open source would be Libre Office Draw or even inkscape.

You can try this one I think it will give you the same vibe

roger I never used the software you are writing about but do know of it. From reading even if you had the full package it may still not install correctly. This is because when running the exe it would pull files from the developers server. Now since they are not available due to the takeover soda doesn't store them.
You can correct me if wrong. Also I found a couple of downloads but they are for the demo of deskPDFStudioX but as I wrote may simply not install. I can email the link to the page to download and to a blog which talks about it and its opinion on Soda. I will await your reply.

Thanks for your response.
I did try an appeal to Soda their reply basically said no longer available you will have to buy ours. To me it seems like they brought the company to remove competition but couldn't get the software rights.
Yes I have the pdf exchange editor and is now my default software. Still I thought I would have one last attempt to recover my favourite.
BF - I believe you are correct. I think I retire my search and get on with life.
Thank you all.

Roger here is the blog I mentioned regarding this as you wrote it writes about change of ownership from one company to the other. As you say no harm in reaching out.

Thanks BF. That person did a great job of research to uncover the facts. Some years ago I used software called webstudio4 and many people got burnt with them. It was a great bit of software that needed more work to bring it up to date. Had a great Forum and I learnt a lot from those people. In their case the developers walked away and left us all in the lurch. The writing was on the wall which lead to many of us adopting Web Builder, a decision I have never regretted. We tried to support those still stranded but eventually the server disappeared and we had to give it all away.
That's why I like this group, apart from having great software, the support from Pablo and Forum members is exceptional.
