Images keep relocating
Hey Pablo,
I've turned off the website to control the location of the images, but it keeps changing the links to the images at random. I go back, fix the link, and then a few minutes later, it's gone. This is EXTREMELY frustrating as I spent hours last night fixing all my pages only to find they went back to old links.. HELP!

Re: Images keep relocating
It's more than likely you are simply seeing a cached version of the pages. Did you do a browser re-fresh? If not do the following: Hold down Ctrl and press F5.
Re: Images keep relocating
I'm talking about within the program
Re: Images keep relocating
Do you mean the location of local files?
If you want to keep the local file structure then please turn of 'Automatically manage images...'
If not, then please try to be more specific.

Re: Images keep relocating
Right, I also thought that would resolve the local paths.. But even after I changed that setting, the images are still changing the paths.
Re: Images keep relocating
What exactly do you mean by 'changing the paths'? Where?
What do you do and what is the expected result?
What is your configuration?
Can you please be mores specific?
Note: your project is not useful if you do not tell what to do to see the issue.

Re: Images keep relocating
So, if you change the link to an image to the /images folder to a specific file, you expect that the next time you open the project, the link will still be there. My links are going back to looking for folders that no longer exist and using old names that have been changed. Not sure how much more precise I can be. But after I save the project and reopen it the links change and I have to go back and re-edit them all over again.

Re: Images keep relocating
So...are you changing the link within the software/program or are you doing this externally in the html itself? if you are doing externally then once you open the project again then anything you changed will get overwritten/changed in the html and the original code made in the program will remain. Note this is how it works. So, if you change the link to an image to the /images folder to a specific file, you expect that the next time you open the project, the link will still be there
If none of this can you be more specific.
Re: Images keep relocating
No I'm clicking on the image, going to properties and choosing a new image. I go back and the image isn't found because it's looking in an old folder that the software created before I un-checked the Automatically manage images and other files used by a project.

Re: Images keep relocating
Would be clearer to underdressed if you could show a video demonstration of what is happening maybe we can reproduce the problem to solve the issue
Re: Images keep relocating
When I look at your video, it does not look like you are saving the project after making the changes?
Also, can you please describe how I can reproduce this behavior with your demo project.
Because it seems to work when I try it.
Is the option "'Automatically manage images..." ON or OFF?

Re: Images keep relocating
I use shortcut keys to save before I leave. As for re-creating it. I'd load a few images in the different areas, save, shit down, and restart the program to see if the image links stay the same
Re: Images keep relocating
Is this for all links in your project or only specific ones? Some of the links seems to be valid?
Unfortunately , I am unable to reproduce this behavior with your demo project.
So, it looks like I am doing something different than you.
Can you please describe the exact steps to reproduce this with your demo project.
Include steps like 'save' or any other shortcut, otherwise it will be difficult for me to find out where it goes wrong.

Re: Images keep relocating
import image, save. Leave program. Start program, change link to a new file (in my case it turned from .jpg to .webp) save. Exit program, start program, look at link and see if a, the image is still the same, b, where the file is located.
If you don't get the result I'm describe, try this, have wwb control the file placement. Set a few images, save file, exit and restart, change the file name and type, and re-link to the new file. Save, exit and restart. Change the settings to have wwb not manage files and see where you're at with the file locations and link names.

Re: Images keep relocating
I am using this feature daily myself and never ran into any issues.
Also, in the project you have shared it seems to be working correct. I have replaced all images and it works correct for me.
Did you also try it with your demo project?
Or maybe another user who is reading this can also try it? Maybe I am overlooking something?

Re: Images keep relocating
Pablo I was able to reproduce this issue. I used that demo. but when I again replaced the images, it was fine somehow that is what I encountered.
It seems the places where there were break points only those images did not get saved although I had replaced every single one of them and used same images on other places.
So, after that I closed the project reopened it replaced those images which were not found SAVED the project then quit and then opened the project again to check and ALL were updated that is what happened from my testing. I did the testing 2 times, and the problems and solution were done in the same way.
something similar on his video about the breakpoint one although there is one where there was no breakpoint, yet it was not found

Re: Images keep relocating
Ok, I see what is happening. The asset manager only displays images of breakpoints when they are different than the default view.
When you change the image, then only the main view will be updated. If you close and re-open the Asset Manager then you see the other breakpoints because they are now different than the default view. So, to make sure all (background) images are updated, you will have to do this for both the default view and breakpoints.
The quickest way to do this is:
- Open the Asset Manager
- Update the file
- Select the same filter, this will update the list and now also show the (different) breakpoints. Once you have also updated the breakpoints, it should be ok.
Anyway, I will investigate if this can be improved so you can do this for all breakpoints at the same time.

Re: Images keep relocating
Gotcha, I was finally able to get it to save without breaking the links, must've opened all the tabs and breaks.. but yah, I had tried going through the asset manager. But, I'm glad to know what the actual problem was to avoid this in the future, but I doubt I'll have to switch image formats any time soon. (famous last words.. ) Thanks Pablo!
