What keyboard do you use?
I like to write, and I type a lot every day to work a long way.
For anyone and everyone including pablo and others I would like to ask what keyboard you use membrane mechanical others and most importantly what key profile do you use? Curious to know : )

I'm an efficiency guy. I like to waste as little as possible. So I'm using an i5 Asus laptop. Got it in 2019 I think and it still works.
I think it only uses 45 Watt which is a good deal for surfing the web and not doing extensive typing.

Re: What keyboard do you use?
I had a dell Inspiron laptop which had a nice chicklet keyboard. After typing for years on that when I used keyboards with {high profile=(taller button)} keycaps I felt as if I did not pushed the button enough as the chicklet keyboards needed just a slight touch for press which I really liked. But my chicklet keyboard could not take the extensive typing I did so it had button issues.
I used from cheapest to medium to even expensive keyboards just for the taste of typing. But then I researched deeper to know where the requirements meet.
I am planning to get the XDA key profile keycaps from online. Those have a wider surface area for fingertips to fit and has a flatter surface area. Looks something like you can see on this link https://down-ph.img.susercontent.com/fi ... so2c7ytjff
For example, most people use CHERRY key profile or most common in the market which I myself used from the beginning of operating on computer. Depending on a person's finger length and finger diameter the key profile's need adjustments so that is why I found some interesting key profiles as they call it

Currently using a Logitech K350 wireless ergonomic keyboard. I've used the curved ergonomic type for about 20 years now so it just feels right to me. I think that is what really matters - do you feel comfortable with the keyboard you use. I type a lot as well and thank my lucky stars that I elected to take a typing class in high school. I've benefited from that class about as much as any class I have ever taken as it was something I used every day during my career and beyond. Just typing this response here, I'm looking at the monitor and not the keyboard so I can catch (most) errors as I go. Probably still only doing 40-50 wpm but that is fine with me. As for the type of keys I don't really know or care, but looking at the keyboard both halves dip in the middle keys.
Bottom line is as long as it works I'm happy.

20 years is a long time with good user and experience. Even I used one ergonomic multimedia keyboard from A4tech which I still have it is just 13 years of use. The reason I went multimedia was for music.
Typing is a delight when you do it on a good keyboard it adds to the aesthetic of the work and feels fresh and makes you want to write and do more.
I even searched for the IBM Model M keyboard. Introduced in 1985, it quickly became famous for its durability and the distinctive “buckling spring” key design, which provided a tactile and audible feedback that many typists loved.
Initially, IBM manufactured these keyboards, but in 1991, they transferred production to Lexmark, a company they had spun off. Lexmark continued to produce the Model M until 1996. After Lexmark ceased production, a group of former Lexmark employees founded Unicomp and acquired the rights and equipment to continue manufacturing the Model M keyboards.
Unicomp located in USA LEXINGTON, Kentucky has been producing Model M keyboards ever since, maintaining the classic design and quality with the buckling spring that made the Model M a legend among keyboard enthusiasts selling latest released in 2017.
Some still go retro for those and keep as a souvenir.

100% agreed. From their hardware to software, they have the dedication without a doubt, or we would have been eating apple by now
Re: What keyboard do you use?
For the past four years, I have used a Logitech K780 keyboard. Its claim to fame is multi-device connection, but I choose it for the feel of the keys and the layout. It has a numeric pad and full-size keys but is smaller in footprint. It will fit in my laptop bag on those occasions when I am traveling and want a regular keyboard. Use the logitech M330 silent mouse along side the keyboard.
I am migrating to a new laptop (hopefully complete the transition today) and looking around to see if there is a keyboard/mouse combination I like better. But I am pretty please with the current models.

I had been using a4tech mouse and keyboard with LK light strike technology. The German cherry Mx metal contact Mechanical switches is what I had used before but as technology evolved so did the choice. By the evolution of light speed laser technology optical switches became the world's most reliable long lasting, and a fast keypress of 0.2 millisecond key response. Surprisingly the light strike ones are much low priced than the mechanical ones making it performant and cost efficient.

20 years of that type of keyboard, the Logitech is only about 4 or 5 years old now, but it has a similar layout to the other ergo keyboards I've used.wwonderfull wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2024 5:27 am 20 years is a long time with good user and experience. Re: What keyboard do you use?
I hear you! I've been using a mechanical keyboard for a while now, and it’s been a game-changer for my typing. I really like the Cherry MX Brown switches because they have that satisfying tactile feel without being too loud, which is nice when I’m working late at night. I usually go for the standard OEM profile, but I’ve been eyeing some custom keycaps to spice things up a bit.
