Google no Longer allows .php form Mailto:

Post by Account-Ability »

All of the forms that I have created for clients no longer work. I did a little digging and if I understood correctly Google mail no longer allows form processing. Any advise as for as a work around? I always just made the WYSIWYG for .php and it has worked for years. Please advise?

Thanks,
Max

I am not sure if this is related to Google.
But it may be a restriction of your webhost. Some web host do not allow you to sent emails using a gmail address as 'from' address.
In that case, you will need to change the 'from' address in the form settings.

Where did you read this?. Forms created with php and not just those made with the software are "Processed" on your server that must must also support php! and not by Google!
The issue may be that you are using a gmail address in the forms(s) where you should really be using a email that is actually associated to the domain itself. It is well known that hosts do not allow the use of "free" email such as gmail, yahoo hotmail etc.
Emails are not arriving in my inbox...

I don't remember where I read it but it stopped functioning and did coincide with the date Google disabled the ability to use there Google business accounts to use google to send webforms. It was so long ago, I don't remember the details.

I was however able to finally get my own sites form to work again. I changed the Mail engine in the advanced section of Form settings. I am using SMTP with authentication. Just got it working a few minutes ago. So far so good. Thank you for responding. :D

Well I guess I spoke too soon. It only works intermittently. Unfortunately, still have an issue.

I think the SMTP is functioning properly but now it keeps going to the error page even though there are no Validation restrictions.

https://acadianbusinessportals.com/index.php Contact Us menu option.

I have tested with Validation "Data Required" and not.

Any suggestions ?

Another strange observation. Even though the Error message appears the form info still comes through in about 20 minutes after submit.

Google did make changes for the SMTP and now they use OAuth2. So if you are using gmail smtp then this post may provide helpful information. Any 3rd party smtp should work just fine with wwb.

I think it's important to understand that the email is sent by the server.
The form script works the same every time you use it, so if there is any 'random' behavior then it's usually a server related issue.

When I look at the page source then I see the PHP code, which indicates that something is wrong on the server configuration. The server should process the PHP code.
