***SOLVED***Lightbox Captions not Showing, Sizing

Post by scribeman01 »

Hello Pablo, I can't get my titles & captions to show in Firefox & Edge browsers. I'm having trouble controlling the size and and thinking about having a white placeholder for each. The online tutorial describe the different gallery functions & options but I'm having trouble putting the pieces together. How do I make the thumbnail sizes consistent or how best to crop my photos. Is there a recommended photo thumbnail & photo size. I can't seem to control either. I've been looking for a current video on creating photo galleries also for version 19 or close to it. Thank you!

Ok, I did select "Bootstrap" which shows my titles & captions but not still does not preview. I also realized that I should change the layout grid size from "true" to "false" to allow resizing.

Another self-discovery! When I engage "Gallery Mode" and engage "boot-strap," "link," my titles and captions are now appearing in preview! So I guess I'm down to recommended sizing for actual photos and thumbnails. I believe I found this to be web responsive?

Firstly, when you share a project can tyou please remorse everything from the project that is not relevant to your questions so it is immediately clear what you have done without me having to go through all the pages and settings?

For further details about how to share a project file, please see this FAQ:
viewtopic.php?f=10&t=82134

Anyway, I assume your question is about the 'gallery' page?

You have set the lightbox to 'galleria'. This specific light box does not support titles.
If you want titles and descriptions then I suggest to use another one lightbox, like lightcase.

I do like Lightcase and successfully downloaded and added the extension to my Toolbox. If I'm understanding correctly, Lightcase would be a "Type" option selection for "Light Box Gallery" mode" same as "Galleria," Fancybox", & "Slimbox" are? I tried to add the extension to Gallery layout grid and Lightcase is not shown as being added. I'm presuming this is not a separate mode unless it becomes incorporated with a flex or layer grid? Do I need to download the LC Lightbox LITE software from their LCwebshop? I can't get the photos to show when I drag this layout object onto the page. Thank you.

Correct

If you do not see it in the list then you may have copied the files to the wrong folder.

This may be helpful:

Okay, when attempting to install these extensions, the default installation was taking me here: "C:\Program Files (x86)\WYSIWYG Web Builder 12". Per the helpful link which you gave me (which I had been over several times previously but missed that it should be manifesting in the Lightbox folder here: "C:\Program Files\WYSIWYG Web Builder 19." When I installed the "lightcase" extension, the directory is called "JS" and you have to click on the "JS" folder to get to the "lightcase" script which does not initiate if I use it as a drop down choice. Note that the lightcase script appears in both the "JS" folder and the Program Files folder. Please see the 4 screenshots on my Google Drive. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... drive_link

First note that these are not 'extensions'. They are third party scripts that WWB can use.

Did you use the setup to install the files? There is no need to copy the files manually.

The files should be in
C:\Program Files\WYSIWYG Web Builder 19\lightbox\lightcase\

There should not be any files in the 'lightbox' folder itself, only folders.

To carry on with this I would recommend that you uninstall WB12. For one it is no longer supported, two is you can open all and any projects made with WB12 with WB19 and finally so that you don't have any installation issues with the said plugins you are referring to as extensions which they aren't as they are simply just scripts that the software can use.. By doing this it should resolve any more issues you may have.

I would also recommend the upgrade as suggested as we and many users have brought many suggestions and fixes requests which has been addressed on the latest versions this would not only keep your wbs project file more problem free and updated but also bring better useability.

I am using the latest 19 version 19.4.4. I erroneously had downloaded that older, dormant mobile script and it created the C:\Program Files (x86)\WYSIWYG Web Builder 12 entry which I've removed.

Thank you again for your insights. Please refer to my Google Drive link for this discussion:
1) I understand & have removed incorrect lightcase extension entry. I now download the zip file to downloads and extract in the "C:\Program Files\WYSIWYG Web Builder 19\lightbox" folder. In this case, I had to manufacture the "lightcase folder" to install its script into (please refer to my screenshots).
2) The lightcase object drop-down now appears, but when selected as an object in the Gallery Mode, it does not show any titles or descriptions when I attempt to type them in. In this case. I have the lightcase format inserted into a layout grid (please refer to my sample project file - I uploaded the image directory from which the pictures are drawn from).
3) None of my other object selections seem to be showing any change on my layout either when I select them. So I think this is the one sticking point. I did successfully add a forms script a few days earlier that enabled me to do a drop down for all U.S. states.
4) Thank you again for your PATIENCE on this. I'm making progress (I think?).

In the project you have shared, it seems to work correct.
The title and description (when added) work for me in the lightbox.

What do you see?
What did you expect to happen?

Note: most of the filename of your images are not web-safe.
See this FAQ for more details:
viewtopic.php?t=131

Also, note that you have set the thumbnail size to a fixed value, so the gallery will not be responsive!

Thank you Pablo.

Thank you for the link on non-safe image names.

I changed the thumbnail size to "variable."

Encouraged tbat it's working for you but even after changing to variable, in either "Design" or "Web Layout," I should be able to see titles & descriptions after I add them to each individual listing. That is not happening in Design or Web Layout. I have the "Generate Thumbnail Images" & "maintain aspect ratio "unchecked. "Lightcase"is also listed as the object under miscellaneous in the Page Properties.

JUST SOLVED IT!!! - In "Style Manger," I was not activating the "Thumbnail" Position in PHOTO GALLERY!! I instructed it to appear below the picture and now it's showing! So the only final two clarification I need is when to check & uncheck Thumbnail Image. The other is looking for a script that shows the first sentence or two of a caption and then the visitor can click on it to expand the entire caption. I think I'm good now (hopefully) and thank you for your guidance to allow me to get this figured out what I was doing wrong! :-)
