How to add a pre-customized button to a Navigation Object

Post by scribeman01 »

I'm confused how you incorporate a customized button into a navigation bar. I downloaded the latest 250 button pack and love the selection!

Now, I also recall a fixed container that you can selectively insert 2 or more items?

There are SO many NEW tools, objectives, short-cuts in version 20! :D

Did you read this: " add more button styles"?

Yes, I did Pablo. I was grasping where to extract the zip folders for navigation bars in the specific system folder, as I do now for lightboxes. :-)

Where I'm having a mental block is how you would take buttons & incorporate them into a navigation block. There was also a scenario I read about - think it was in your Vers. 20 write-up where you added the ability to put 2 or more items into a block and that they could be used as a unit in a layout or flex grid - then I couldn't find it. I saw all of the new grid designs which you can get from the new insert drop down on the upper left.

So I understand how you can customize a button, where I think I'm missing is how to actually grab one of those cool buttons and incorporate it into a navigation block.

I know you also have it documented when say a button is selected for a page and it can be tweaked for a different size, color etc. when it's picked. I understand about styling the button, it's appearance when hovering, and the hamburger concept, but how to instruct it to be a different size, color etc. when it's selected.

Once the button images are in the right folder, you can select the button styles in the Navigation bar:

OK, so I extracted the shinybutton and the wwb_extrabuttons folders into the ...system/navbar folder. In the "Style" section of the Navigation Bar properties, I should see "Use Custom Image" option in the "Background" & "Hover" sections. I do not. I do see a tic box for that allows me to use a hover style to indicate the current page (which was one of my now answered question). However, if I click on "Theme" shouldn't I be seeing a drop down of themes to use? Note, I did close & restart the program after installing the additional buttons.

If you do not see the new button images in the list then you have extracted the files in the wrong folder.

Note that 'shiny button' is an extension, so it cannot be used as button image.

Thank you Pablo, it's working now. :-)

The files were in the correct "navbar" folder but I was extracting the Zip file from "download" to the "navbar" folder. Once, I moved the Zip file directly into the NavBar folder, extracted and ran the set-up.

I removed the "Shiny Button" from the navbar folder and will reinstall so it shows in the toolbox. Then, I presume you can drag it to the page you're working on? Would I still be able to incorporate the "Shiny Button" extension as one of the "navbar" button options?

Regarding Block Pack 6 - when I move that zip file to the "Blocks Folder" and extract, I presume that will automatically update the add-ons in that section?

It will be a fun day picking out buttons!

The new blocks will be available in the blocks manager.
