***SOLVED***Lost File Content after Backing Up!

Post by scribeman01 »

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... drive_link

I saved my project as a back-up and I lost the entire contents!
This is a file I started in vers. 19 and have been using in vers. 20.
The file size is still similar to older versions and hoping I can recover or repair the file?? :o :o

I've uploaded one of the project & project backup WWB files, including the System Folder & my associated drive folder with it. The reason, I'm including the system folder is in the event I inadvertently/incorrectly was adding buttons, objects into the wrong folder. When I installed the latest object extensions, I did update that section, but this is a mystery and so close to project completion and this happens. (sigh) Thank you for your help!

I can open both the projects.
What is the exact problem?
Which content are you missing?
Can you please be more specific?

I'm relieved to hear that Pablo. :-)

When I open either file, I only get the Master Page and Page 1 which has the a header block in it. I have a master, index, testimonial, photo-chat, & contact page with on each one.

The master page has the header, index page has text, a photo & slide show, testimonial page has a scroll-container text box with content & background, photo-chat page has two rows of the amazing cards you and others have been helping me with, and the contact page is one of your template blocks to fill the contact info in.

I'm also attempting a file recovery for earlier saved versions of this file.

THANK YOU

I can see all pages, so the project seems to be ok.

Do you get an error when you open the project?

For what it's worth, I can open both project files and see all pages and their content, too.

No errors.

I do open & close the project on my computer in my workspace in basement, and noticed this just after I got my laptop connected on the network upstairs and tried to open the project - - when it first happened only opening with the master-page & page1, then the same thing when I went back downstairs and then all of the backups were opening only with the master & page 1.

Thank you Ali - - - very encouraging!

I did reboot the computer with the same results where only master & page one were opening. Still running WIN10 on this computer.

I have older project files that appear to be opening fine - - just with this one.

I could copy & move the project up to my laptop w/vers. 20 (Win11) but was having the same problem when attempting to open the network project from my computer in basement.

What should I do? I'll see what shows up in file recovery when I'm up later in the morning. :)

Check your backup folder where there are some auto saves of your project maybe you can recover or test if those files open if they do then may carry on from after that.

I assume that you know that you have put the the pages as a child page under the master page in the Site Manager?
So, you will have to click the '+' icon to see the other pages.

OMG Pablo, @AliGW, @wonderful!! Do I feel like a COMPLETE FOOL!! That was EXACTLY the issue. All I had to do was click on the "masterpage" and the children pages were there! How idiotic that I didn't do that simple click to open up the tree. Ironically, I did correct my housekeeping as these pages were on the same level with the "masterpage." I guess this is what happens when one gets too fatigued and doesn't know when to walk away from it for a breath of fresh air. Now life goes on, close to getting this project done and that I can spend more time looking at all the v20 enhancements. I'm very curious on the new "Cards" layouts! THANK YOU!

I'm sure we've all been there, one way or another. Glad it wasn't anything sinister afterall.
