What to do and how to achieve that a person is taken to their account page after login instead of any other page?

Re: Landing page for log in
You can use the 'user redirect' object to implement this functionality

Re: Landing page for log in
I want people to create their account automatically, without admin approval. Will it work? How will their pages be created?

In that case this will not work, because pages cannot be dynamically be created online.

Re: Landing page for log in
But when I log in to this forum I have my profile page which I understand was created when I signed up and is updated automatically. Can I have something similar?
I have a website where I sell products so it would be great if people can see their orders, etc.

On this forum, you do not have a personal profile page. It is a generic page which loads your data, something like the 'Edit profile' object of the login tools.
If you are planning to sell products with order management then it may be better to use a dedicated eCommerce solution. This is out of the scope of the login tools.

Re: Landing page for log in
But...thats the purpose of the likes of the phpBB software as other forum software. To answer yes it can be done but it will need a custom script. First of all you would create a "dynamic profile page" this is what you could call a "blank template or canvas" one page that is going to used for everyone. Once the user signs up this is then validated (username, password etc and a unique id generated this is then used to pull/call there details from the user/member database (mysql) and populate the mentioned "blank template" if no member exists then a error message will get displayed...so yes it can be done but requires as mentioned a custom script. Or as mentioned by Pablo it might be best to go down the route of using a Ecommerce platform since you plan to sell. But when I log in to this forum I have my profile page which I understand was created when I signed up and is updated automatically.
