Images not scaling inside of flex grid

My images are not scaling as I reduce the size of the viewport and before it gets to the breakpoint.
I have tried endless combinations of setting of justify content, align content, align items, and flex direction with no joy. My height is set for auto and my position is floating.
Here you can see it, the images are overwriting each other instead of scalingTo fit which is what I want.
All cells are set for auto height and I'm using the fr column designation.
What am I doing wrong?

I cannot see your settings based on the published HTML, but it looks like flex glow and shrink have not been set.

That was it thank you, would be nice to have that setting in the object properties.
Does it need to be set to one in both the picture and the flex grid?

Flexbox properties apply to the object inside the grid, not to the grid itself.
