Custom Block deleted

Post by eikey »

All the custom blocks I created and saved are gone, how can I restore them?

Blocks do not get deleted automatically, but you may have changed the system folder.

Maybe this will be helpful:

This is interesting. If you remember, Pablo, I reported the same thing a while back. I had NOT changed my system folder, but for some reason, it had reverted to the default without my intervention. I managed to fix it, but decided in the end not to use a custom system file location again for fear of it reoccurring.

I had never had a problem before the last update to WWB: I know you'll say that the update was not the problem, but I absolutely know for sure that it wasn't me who changed the system location. Could there indeed be some issue with the last update?

hi,
thanks for the replay.
I didn't change the system folder, they just disappeared somehow.
I can't find them in that folder or sub folders

I doubt that the files will be deleted automatically.
I think there is a mix up with folders

Maybe they are in a different blocks library?

By default, blocks are saved in
C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\WYSIWYG Web Builder\system\blocks
or
C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\WYSIWYG Web Builder\system\blockslibraries

In the blocks folder there only on file - pablo.txt
in blockslibraries only one sub folder - modern

To be honest objects don't simply disappear without some user interaction. Maybe you have hidden the blocks see the first url or have used easy mode see the second url

https://wysiwygwebbuilder.com⁹/easymode.html

If you have maybe accidentally removed them then a simple system restore of Windows should recover them to a date you knew they where in the software.

Are you sure you have never changed the system folder?

When this happened to me, I discovered that WWB had switched back to the default system folder. In the end, I copied my blocks over from what had been my custom location to the default location as I don't want to risk this happening again.

It definitely wasn't me who switched the folders - it happened after the last update.

@eikey
Are you sure you are looking in the right folder?
Maybe you have logged in using a different username?

Or maybe there is another documents folder on your system (for example, one drive, google drive)?

Yes, I'm sure,
the custom block folder called "AiMeResponsive" just disappeared and I didn't make any settings changes in the software itself.
I've now built it from scratch (and backed it up in an external folder).
I'm convinced it's a bug.

The software does not have an ability to remove an entire blocks library (folder), you can only remove individual blocks via the UI.
So, I am not convinced that this is a bug, otherwise many other users would have also this issue.

But if you think there is a bug, then please desired the exact steps to reproduce this behavior, otherwise there it's very difficult for me to figure out what has gone wrong.

The problem was One Drive, as soon as I stopped the synchronization of Documents folder the problem was solved.
After a few minutes I resumed the synchronization and the problem did not return.

OneDrive appears to the software as a regular drive on your system and does not handle files differently.
However, if OneDrive is offline or the application does not have permission to access it, the files will not be available to the software.
