is there a way to remove the .php at the end of the name?

sample
www.test.com/contact.php
to just

www.test.com/contact

You will need to do this in the server configuration (.htaccess)

You can remove the extensions from internal links in Tools -> Options -> Publish -> Hide file extensions for internal links.
Please read the notes in the help before enabling this option
