Large site creation Using WYSIWYG
This site has taken over twelve months to develop and consists of 5 research and education publications. Any constructive suggestions appreciated.
Topics covered within the publications: Space publication, Poetry Writing, Metal Detecting and Archaeology, Teaching, and Car Mechanics.
Initially started off using WYSIWYG 8.00, noticed the site slowed down when publishing. With the long listing of pages for this site, I was hoping for a more distinct highlight identifying the page within Site Manager would be enhanced, however still not so. A simple update, perhaps one for the development team, a problem for those with fading eyesight...
With the new 12 noticed there is extra clicking for functions, can be time consuming.

Re: Large site creation Using WYSIWYG
12 months...No idea what your promoting/selling! the index or home page is the main starting intro point this should give as much textual information as possible to what your trying to promote. Poor navigation/menu, bad positioning had to look and the figure out that I had to click the image beside the text to actually know it was a link! Dont understand the scrolling /marquee banner a fixed banner would be more suitable.
What is the purpose of the 4 piano key like shapes top left? Poor colour/color choice, no indication that you have to click even double click (*for mobile users) on any of the images if you want more information or visit a new page. Site is not responsive a big requirement for todays user who mainly use the likes of mobile devices such as Mobile phones, iPads, Tablets etc to view the Internet (viewing and writing on the likes as I reply).
You say your site take a lot of time to publish/upload this is more than likely due to content such as images being to large or maybe other scripts you have added yourself it could also simply be your internet connection or a sever related issue. Note this is not related to the program in anyway at all. This is not meant to be rude but just my two cents and to be honest it may take you another 12 months to make it fully responsive.

BaconFries pretty much sums it all up, I know it sounds harsh, but I think you need to go back to the drawing board on this one, perhaps check out some articles on visual design and usability for web site creation, looks like you have the practical ability to get the job done, but need to apply good design techniques.

It can take time to master design techniques and with familiarisation of the web builder, in 2026 I have created 11 database and standalone publications. The design evolves over time. So! if a beginner or someone familiar with the package, one can produce the required results whether it is business or leisure/hobby, mine is a hobby. I have recently updated to WYSIWYG 20.

Re: Large site creation Using WYSIWYG
Why are your section pages so small? This one, for example:
http://paragon.myvnc.com/TheParagon-Spa ... Space.html
My eyesight is that of a 61-year-old and is not yet what I'd call failing, but the text is so tiny, I cannot read most of it - the copyright notice at the bottom is totally illegible.
The look of that page and others like it are reminiscent of badly designed sites created back in the 1990s, which may be the look you are aiming for, but it doesn't look great to me. That together with the tiny page size, and I'm not going to stick around, I am afraid.
The front page with the bookshelf is a quirky idea - again, a bit dated, but less so than the content pages. But once again, some of the text is ridiculously small and illegible.
Even if you are a hobbyist, one would hope that you'd be aiming for a site that is accessible: this isn't, for the reasons stated, so even if you don't want to change its design, you are going to have to address the issue of the tiny text.
Hope this helps.

The Paragon Website site is linked to No-IP (this is a free provider and cannot be published in the conventional way, as mainstream service providers and believe me this can cause complications within itself at times). There are 11 separate individual websites in one and this is what takes the time, however; publishing only needs to be done on the publication that has been worked on.
The visual aspects of the site can easily be increased with the use of the mouse or via the browser settings to increase the magnification, I have the eyesight of someone 66.
Those that study or are interested in topics will usually take time, if one is too busy; perhaps one needs to slow down a little, being busy, one's mind is somewhere else and therefore makes the act of studying redundant... This site originated in 2005 and has grown, the bookshelf has shrunk due to the number of publications being produced and of course the standard monitor sizes, suggesting: ideal Screen Composition 1680 x 1050. The actual publications chosen from the shelf should materialise to a standard size, comfortable to read, (the tiny labelling as one suggests is there for basic protocol as in 'smallprint' and this is not what one calls the main topic of interest) one can scroll, dependant on the page viewed.
The construction just uses basic or standard settings, the pages are individually designed to allow for customisation of content, taking away set page sizes, this can be a problem and can be time consuming if one needs to address all page in one publication. However; one can use the master templates if one chooses for their own website to address mass alterations to a publication.

BaconFries - The Paragon Website, promotes BOOKS or is a vehicle used to enter into the database publication, I must confess in the early days I was not sure how to present the website and I did experiment. I was also familiarising myself with WYSIWYG, stepping away from Adobe DreamWeaver in the day. It was your comment that made me think about my design of my main front or index page and to focus on a 'product' or 'theme', so thank you for that focus ... Forums can be good when comments are constructive.

Re: Large site creation Using WYSIWYG
NOBODY should have to adjust the magnification in their browser in order to be able to read your site. The fault is with you - the webmaster - for not making it legible at 100%.The visual aspects of the site can easily be increased with the use of the mouse or via the browser settings to increase the magnification, I have the eyesight of someone 66.
You miss the point entirely. It's not to do with being busy or not. It's to do with making your site easy to view, read and navigate. Even people with all the time in the world will be put off if they have to start changing their default browser settings in order to be able to use your site.if one is too busy; perhaps one needs to slow down a little, being busy, one's mind is somewhere else and therefore makes the act of studying redundant...

Re: Large site creation Using WYSIWYG
Ali - Thank you for your comments, all one can say is, everyone has a choice to access this resource or not, even today within our political climate. Read 'About the Site', this gives you an insight into why the site was created. For me originally, it was created for my personal reference and interest, (a hobby) and to access the information as a personal resource, students suggested they would like access to use it and it was adjusted accordingly and they still use it as a resource without a problem. I believe I have addressed the magnification issue, and explained how one can adjust the visuals to one's personal eyesight. Your visual focus is beyond my control, perhaps an optician may help?
Adjusting browser setting are there for this very reason, to cater for all age groups and those with potential disabilities. All browsers have controls to set visual adjustments for this very reason I have suggested, familiarise oneself with your browser i.e. Edge - click on the three dots right corner of your browser and click on (Zoom - or +), this is a simple function, and does not waste time.
As to 'fault', of the webmaster, so be it, one can not be perfect, like yourself or to address everyone's issue accordingly as this also becomes very time consuming; however; I hope my suggestions have helped.

Re: Large site creation Using WYSIWYG
I have to agree with Ali on this. Maybe when you designed the site originally with WWB8 that was the norm but times have changed and nor everyone sits in front of a PC or Laptop time view the web they are using the likes of mobile devices. The visual aspects of the site can easily be increased with the use of the mouse or via the browser settings to increase the magnification, I have the eyesight of someone 66.
The following are nor my words but it clearly shows what is used.
As of early 2026, mobile devices account for approximately 63% to 64% of global web traffic, while desktop computers make up about 35% to 37%. Mobile has been the dominant platform since 2016-2017, consistently driving the majority of online searches and digital consumption.
Key Mobile vs. Desktop Breakdown:
Mobile Traffic: ~63-64%
Desktop Traffic: ~35-37%
Tablet Traffic: ~2-4%
Contextual Trends:
Behavioral Differences: While mobile dominates in volume, desktop users tend to have longer session durations—about 38% longer on average—and view more pages per visit.
Shopping: Mobile leads in e-commerce traffic (around 70%), but desktop often remains strong for complex, high-value purchases.
Regional Differences: In some regions like the UK, mobile usage is at 50.09% compared to 45.57% for desktop, showing a closer gap.
The following two screenshots are from my mobile and it is clear that it can't be read without having to zoom in one is portrait mode an one landscape both show a lot of negative blank space not filling the entire page.

Re: Large site creation Using WYSIWYG
Hello BaconFries - Thank you for your comment, I am pleased Ali has an ally and that you agree with her. Your information is potentially valid, one must remember many students within institutions use conventional desktop systems, since our education on the whole has been deprived for so many years through the lack of government funding, the main access by majority of students is through desktop and laptop systems. But that is not really the issue is it. Personally, I am not interested in students wanting to use their mobiles or ipads, I am not interested in getting 'clicks' either. I always like to view statistics, but that is just what they are statistics. There is one server that is used and this belongs to me and is accessed by those that don't mind the visual impact if any. The images you provide maybe via a mobile, or even with lower screen composition, just expand it using you finger, or turn your mobile 90 deg to expand the width of the image. The institutional visuals seem to be as standard magnification, ('normal') and is functional for it's adopted purpose for those that wish to use the resource. Note: this is not a paid resource, it is a voluntary resource, I don't get paid.
The blank space is based on you monitor settings, one refers to the ideal screen setting 1680x1050 as stipulated within the index and Maintenance Noticeboard, I may also suggest this is for a 22" Monitor.
I hope this has answered your query.

I am viewing your site on a 17" laptop monitor. Have a look for yourself (the We Transfer link will last for 3 days only):
https://we.tl/t-9b02EwLcko
https://we.tl/t-9b02EwLcko
This is way lower than the average screen setting these days. Most are at least 1920 wide.the ideal screen setting 1680x1050
