Links Not saving

Post by Spinner »

This is so basic I can't even believe I'm asking...
I have a website I built with the previous version of WWB and now editing in 20.
If I take some text or image and highlight it, then click on link to a file and then say okay and then immediately go back into that link, it does not retain what I just set. (Also does not retain the information in the link if I say page in project)
WWB is creating a folder for the site with the linked file in it and it is openable.

What am I doing wrong?

One other thing is I have a master frame page with a content place holder in it and the page with the link I'm attempting to get working is referencing That master frame page.

Also I seem to remember a place where you could globally set which folders were for various things which I cannot find now, where is it?

There are no known issues with links; otherwise, this would already have been fixed.
To investigate further, I need more details about what you are doing and where the issue occurs.

Please provide a DEMO project (.wbs file) so I can review your settings.
Additionally, include clear step-by-step instructions on how to reproduce the problem.

Please do not share the full project because that will only take more time to figure out what you have done.
Basically, I just need a small project with one page and object(s) that are relevant to your question.

For further details about how to share a project file, please see this FAQ:

I believe the problem has something to do with where various file folders are located.
Because if I create a brand new website with one page and one link it does the same thing.

I have looked for the various folder locations under tools/options/files and folders.
But there is only a selection of system folder which is currently set to:
C:\Users\James\Documents\WYSIWYG Web Builder

Is this where the WWB executable is supposed to be located?
If not what is supposed to be in this location?

The executable for WWB is in c:\program files\WYSIWYG web builder 20

C:\Users\James\Documents\WYSIWYG Web Builder
Is this where the WWB executable is supposed to be located?
If not what is supposed to be in this location?
There should not be an executable in this folder, this folder is for saving project and other user data (templates, blocks, extension etc.)
The executable for WWB is in c:\program files\WYSIWYG web builder 20
This is correct

I doubt that the location of your files has anything to do with linking text.

If you need help then please share a DEMO project (.wbs file) so I can review your settings and include clear step-by-step instructions on how to reproduce the problem.

So I uninstalled and reinstalled WWB, same problem

I created the test website below and if I do a preview before I save it, the links work normally, as soon as I save the project to disk the links don't work in preview and there is no information if I go back into the properties of the link.

As soon as I add another link to the project (After previous save) it works until I save.

I have tried saving the project to two different locations including
C:\Users\James\Documents\WYSIWYG Web Builder, Same problem,
there's something about the save that's causing this.
