Using the save icon sometimes doesn't work

Post by alan_sh »

Updating a web site. I do some work, click on the small "save" icon at the top left of my screen and then immediately click on the publish icon sitting to the right of the save icon (with preview in the middle). I am then presented with a box that asks if I want to save my project. Huh? I just did that...

This has happened since I installed V21-1 and happens enough times that I am pretty sure it's not me. It's as if the system saves it the first time, but doesn't reset a flag somewhere to say it's been saved (but that's just my guess).

I'm running the latest version of Windows 11 on a PC with 64gb of memory.

Any thoughts?

Sometimes a layout recalculation can cause a modified trigger. This is expected behavior, especially with dynamic flexible layouts.
I do not think this is specific to WB21.1, but if you need further help with this then please share a simple demo project. Maybe I can suppress the message it in some specific cases.

Pablo,

There's no layout change. I click on the save icon and then click on the publish icon. I will see if it's one particular wwb file that has the issue or whether it's the same on a few of them.

I'll see if a demo project does this too.

There's no layout change.
Layout calculations are automatic. They can be triggered by mouse movement, scroll, property changes and many other state changes.
There are thousands of options and millions of possible combinations, so I need more specific information to say anything meaningful about this

This is my thought on this but stand to be corrected.
The first "save" this is just saving the change to your current session to the temporary cache of whats in the workplace.
The prompt is asking do you want to actually save it to the project the .wbs on your computers harddrive .But as mentioned I stand to be corrected

Just for diagnostic purposes try Save As.. instead of save and see what happens.

I think that would work as it's saving a new version of the file.

It's possible, but if so, it's a change from previous versions of WWB. I've never seen this before.
