Slideshow issues - probably me but ...

Post by alan_sh »

I'm doing something fundamendally wrong here, but I can't see what it is.

Firstly, sample WBS file is here:
https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/hmbrukb7 ... snn7c&dl=1

The page is comp-progress and consists of a layout grid with a slide show inside it.

Now issues:.

1. Every time I go in to edit the slide show, "Auto titles" is unticked. How do I get it to stay ticked?
2. I want captions. So I select "Accordian". Try Preview and it is not what I expect. I seem to get a thin vertical strip with all my pictures going down that strip. What is accordian supposed to do and why do I see that?
3. I try Ken Burns - I get the captions, but the image is long and thin and it displays lots of white images while the captions run through.
4. I select "Lightbox gallery". The help text says "If you select this option then clicking the image will start a lightbox slideshow.". Well, it doesn't. It displays one photo and sits there. If I click on the picture, I can manually scroll through, but that's not what I want.

This is all basic stuff, so I don't believe WWB is at fault. I must be missing something. But what?

Any help appreciated. BTW - I am using the latest (24/7/2026) version.

cheers

1. Auto titles is basically a one time command. If you click it, it once scans the images and generates the titles. it's not something that is always 'on'.
2. Captions are for the standard slideshow only. Accordions and other (third party) scripts do not not support captions. The help does mentioned this, but is not completely up-to-date with all other options that have been added recently.
3. See 2
4. The lightbox option works for me. Note this is not an automated slideshow, it just triggers the lightbox. The exact behavior depends on the selected lightbox. Some lightbox scripts like lightgallery do support auto play.

Pablo,

When I select Accordian, I get a very strange display on preview (forget about captions). Does it work for you with my .wbs file?

If you mean that preview only loads the first image, then this is correct. To save memory during design time, it only loads the first image and repeats it for all panels.
If you view the page in the browser then it should look ok.

It's previewing fine in Firefox for me, although it is quite small.

It looks like the style is not applied.
Maybe it is a browser cache issue?

I tried with 3 browsers. Same issue. So I went to have a look and the css files are there in the preview folder.

This is the total content of the preview folder.

What do you see when you unpack the zip file? Something isn't right.

The accordion does not support navigation, so this should be set 'none'.
Also, please change the grid system to 'default', because the accordion uses its own flexbox layout, this conflicts with the container.

I did both changes - no difference.

I took the slideshow out of the layour grid and it worked. Very weird.

Very strange. I wonder what settings you have that I don't. Anyway, the accordian isn't what I want. What I would like is a conveyer belt with captions. I'll add it as a suggestion.

Thanks for looking.

Maybe you can use cards in a card container instead? This also supports conveyer belt mode. You can use set the background of the card to an image and then add text on top.
