Error reports in V. 21

I have finally upgraded to WWB Version 21.1.2, running Windows 10 and everything seems to be working just fine except that the Error Reports for every page tell me [ "...." font is missing.,The object uses a font which is not installed on this system]. That's just about every font and variation.

Now I know that all of these fonts are installed on my system and everything seems to publish well and always has. Am I missing something here and if so, what should I do?

It is difficult to say anything meaningful about this without seeing the project file.
But if you think the warning is incorrect then you can simply hide it.

Sorry for taking so long to get back. The URL for the page that is an example of the error report is https://oldbow.com/error-page.html. This sort of thing comes up on all of my pages.

The report on this particular page says:

P.S. These fonts are not being used on this page or even on the site, but they are all in my Windows Fonts folder.

So what you are saying is that all these fonts are installed on your computer but the software is saying that they are not installed correct? You also mentioned that you are not using these fonts in the project but in looking at your demo page, I can see that 'Arial Rounded MT Bold' is being used and in the css code.

Does the name of this font match what you have installed?

And, no I can't see that there is any 'Arial Rounded MT Bold' on this page, yet the error report says:

Firstly, it is important to note that 'Arial Rounded MT Bold' is not a valid google font, or a 'web safe' font. It's only available on Windows.
Normally, this font is hidden in the software unless you have marked it manually as websafe.

Also, I don't think you are not allowed to host the font on your website:

So, it may be better to replace it with a different font.

The font 'Arial Rounded MT Bold' is used in some of the Card items, for example the button text.

You can replace the font for all objects via the 'Global Replace' tool.

The font is used in the source of the page and the css. It is used in MapCard5, Master1Text5 so it looks like it used in a Masterpage for other pages.
The font itself is licensable meaning that it cannot be used in web developement such as being converted to the likes of woff or uploaded to your server if used like this requires that you purchase a extended commercial license for use. As mentioned by Pablo it might be best to used another or similar looking font so not to cause you issues.

This is a Master Page, or in this case part of a masterpage, which I presented for simplicity of example.

Why does the error report say MapCard5,'Arial Rounded MT Bold' font is missing when it is set to 'ABeeZee' and masterText1,'Arial Rounded MT Bold' and is set to 'Verdana' on this page?

Also, if you look at my second post here, you can read all the fonts that the report said were in error on the original master page ('Basic Sans SF', 'Stencil', 'Segoe UI Emoji', 'Verdana Bold', 'Times New Roman Italic', 'Calibri Bold', 'Basic Sans SF', 'Calibri Italic', 'Calibri'). This page had none of those fonts.

And today, the only errors are 'Arial Rounded MT Bold' and 'Calibri', where the only fonts on the whole page are 'Verdana', 'Arial' and 'ABeeZee', as far as I can tell. https://oldbow.com/error-page-4.wbs

In the project you have shared, the button of the card is configured to use 'Arial Rounded MT Bold'. This is not a web safe font and if it's not in the font list then it will be reported as missing.

The software does not add these font on its own, so at some point in the design process you have applied these fonts to the objects.

Also, the problem is not the fonts are not installed on your computer, but they are not web safe. So, unless they are configured as 'web safe' and you have used them somewhere then they will be reported as invalid.

You can use the Global Replace to update the fonts globally. After that they should no longer be in the error list.

Thanks Pablo. The button is set for Verdana/14/normal here in my program. I don't understand where 'Arial Rounded MT Bold' is coming from, but it does't look like Verdana/14/normal in the rendering.

And Global Replace does not work when 'Arial Rounded MT Bold' is not there in the first place, although it is in the server's public_html folder, as are the variations, as is Calibri and others.

The reason why I talked about the fonts on my computer is that the phrase "The object uses a font which is not installed on this system." was not clear to my mind. It does not say what system. Now I understand.

I'll just remake the page from the ground up.

In the project you have shared I can select 'Arial Rounded MT Bold' in Global Replace and then replace it with another font. After that the error is gone.
Are you sure the font is not listed in Global Replace? Which fonts do you see?

And Global Replace does not work when 'Arial Rounded MT Bold' is not there in the first place, although it is in the server's public_html folder, as are the variations, as is Calibri and others.

How did the fonts get there? These are not web safe fonts, so they are not copied by the software unless you tell it to do so.
By default these fonts are intentionally hidden for the software. They are Windows fonts and should not be used in web pages.

I have done Global Replace again, for the umpteenth time. It did show Arial Rounded MT Bold, which I replaced with Arial. This time the report came back to say, "masterText1,'Calibri' font is missing.,The object uses a font which is not installed on this system." Okay - enough is enough.

I will simply remake the page and let you know if there's a problem. I'm just an uneducated tryer.

I never got these reports in V17. Maybe it's because the page was originally written with V14 and tweeked through the years and upgrades?

And, did you also replace this font?

You do not have to redo your work. Just replace the fonts that are incorrect or ignore the warning if you do not care.

I never got these reports in V17

The software is constantly updated based on user feedback. So. new error detection methods have been added since v17.
The reason why the software displays these errors is to help you make your website better.

Also note that the messages are not incorrect, the fonts actually used in your project.
