How to activate 'Snap to Ruler Guides'

I can not get the 'Snap to Ruler Guides' to function with a shape.
Any advice ?

edit, I figured it out... The 'Show Smart Guides when objects are aligned' will activate the magnetic attraction. Default is 'off', need to tick it ON.
