In this version of WYSIWYG Web Builder we've completely redesigned the way 'user made' extensions integrate with WYSIWYG Web Builder.
They now run directly inside WWB. This means more control, faster loading, less memory usage, smaller extensions (because the 'core' is now integrated in WWB) and more possibilities in the future.
Also extensions will automatically use the latest functionality in case of bugs fixes or improvements in the future (no need to rebuild the extension).
This preview version is made available for extension developers to test their existing extensions (do they still work?) and/or to preview new features.
Other new features in Extension Builder 4:
- New feature: All extensions now have a 'Help' button in the properties
- New feature: Added 'Show links settings' to image gallery property. This makes it possible to hide the links settings if your extension doesn't need it.
- New feature: The URL property now supports file links, popup windows and smart links.
- New feature: Added 'Use jquery theme' option (replaces 'Theme' property).
- New feature: Added 'Navigation' property. Makes it easier to create menu extensions. Support list and tree style navigation. Users can also synchronize the menu with the Site Manager. See PDF for more details/examples!
- New feature: Added 'File collection' property. Adding this property will allow the user to select files to be published to the specified folder.
- New feature: Added 'Test XSL template' option. With this option you can test XSL templates for the various property types (gallery, dataset, navigation).
Other new features in WYSIWYG Web Builder 8.2:
- Fixed: Grid does not have correct offset when scrolled.
- Fixed: Master page modifications can cause for crash closed pages using that master page.
- Improved: Replaced ereg() with preg_match() in PHP code. ereg() is not longer supported in newer versions of PHP.
- Improved: SiteTree object now also supports generic background styles (transparent, solid, gradient, image, pattern, texture).
- Improved: 'Error reports' now also verifies master frame objects for the current page.
- New feature: Added the ability to add custom code to a content place holder (only works if it has a border or background)
- New feature: Added support for background textures to Theme Manager.
- New feature: Added box shadow to text object.
- New feature: Added 'Synchronize with Site Manager' option to Go Menu.
Notes:
- Extensions created with this version of Extension Builder will only work in version 8.2 and newer.
However extensions created with previous versions will still work too (although they do not support new features like navigation, file collection, theme support).
- All extensions (old and new) will use the new extension 'core'. For example they automatically support the new links options (popups, smart links, file links) and display the help button.
Please let me know if you find any issues with extensions or any of the other new features.
