Fast loading photos

I need advice on best way to add fast loading photos on a website.
Generally there should be three different sizes right?
Small thumbnail, medium size and full size?
What kind of selection do I need from the toolbox?
At the present time this here is way to slow.

In the Photo gallery you can enable 'Generate thumbnail images'.

Thanks Pablo, done that and also Lazy Loading seemed to help.
