CMS
Hi, I cannot seem to set up the CMS properly. I use the CMS template and the confusion is with the WebBuilder asking for MySQL server. I am not with a hosting company who uses CPanel, and they only list MySQL Host (in this case) as: vriske001.mysql.guardedhost.com I used this, and also tried "localhost" but neither work. I also tried vriske001 and that did not work as well. What do you need to help me get this going? I also contacted the hosting company and they told me to contact the CMS provider....
One more question: Once this is working, then how do I indicate an area on the client's website as to where on the page the editable content is going? This is not clear in the instructions.... Thank you!
Hi, I am responding to the list of things to look for in your tutorial:
CMS does not works at all:
- Did you set the page file extension (in Page Properties) to PHP? - YES
- Did you publish the page(s) to a web server with PHP and MySQL support? - YES We actually installed this on another client site 2 years ago and it was working.
- Did you create a database and enter the correct database settings in the CMS configuration? - YES
- Did you first run the CMS admin so all tables were created? - YES, BUT IT DID NOT "TAKE"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you want us to help you, please provide the following information:
- First enable error reporting in the CMS admin -> Open the CMS admin properties, set error reporting to 'True' and republish all files.
DONE
- What are you exact settings in the CMS admin?
Admin Password: q8Fjn****""
Allow Users: vr*****01_calendar
Disable Page Management for Users: false
Enable Error Reporting: true
Enable Unicode Support: false
Frame Name: cmsadmin
Plugins Collection
Session Timeout: 600
--------------------------
MySQL Database Name: vriske001_calendar
MySQL Password: q8Fjn*3qV4
MySQL Server: vriske001.mysql.guardedhost.com
Table Prefix: CMS_
MySQL User Name: vriske001_calendar
---------------------------
- What is the URL of the admin page?
http://wearepuppeteers.com/cms/administrator.php
- What is the password so we can try it?
Is this the same password for the database? ...if so it is: q8Fjn*3qV4
- What is the URL of the CMS view page (the page displaying the content)?
http://wearepuppeteers.com/cms/content.php
- Were the tables (with prefix 'CMS_) successfully created in the database? NO - Use PHPAdmin to check this first!!! - NO TABLES WERE CREATED
- For test purposes the CMS admin and CMS content pages should not have any other objects except for the CMS Admin object
Unfortunately without this information there is no way to assist you.
Hope this helps! ....THANK YOU, Steve.

Re: CMS
Please read from the following link the part that reads Requirements: Note if your host does not support these then you will need to change your host to one that does. Also please do not supply server login details in a open forum as it could lead to you being hacked!.

Re: CMS
The error indicates that you have selected the wrong PHP version in the Page Properties.
Please select PHP5-PHP7.

Re: CMS
Hello Pablo, Yes, that was the culprit. I am now able to login and create pages. My Question: On the client's web page: Events, how do I insert an area that "fills" with the page created via CMS? I have used other CMS programs and they have been inserted on a page using an i-frame. So...how do I post content from the CMS to a web page. Here is a link to preview the page that we need to allow the client to use the CMS to update Events.
http://wearepuppeteers.com/dev/02-02-20/calendar.html Similarly, the client also wants to update the "Our Fans" page and here again we need to know how to insert a page from the CMS into the "changeable" content area of that page as well. Thank's again!, Steve

Re: CMS
The created content will be displayed in the 'CMS View' area:
http://wearepuppeteers.com/cms/content.php

Re: CMS
Hi Pablo, yes, I understand how to view pages created in the CMS....the question is how do I get a page from the CMS to show up on the client's website? Use i-frame? or do I need to place (something) on the clients web page to "pull-in" the content from the CMS?
I just looked at this page for possible use as an i-frame, but it shows the whole Admin page and not the frame with the content:
http://wearepuppeteers.com/cms/content.php?page=2 And one more question....Once we do get the content posted on the client's page, is it fully responsive? Thank you for your help! Steve.

Re: CMS
Yes, an inline frame is the easiest way.....the question is how do I get a page from the CMS to show up on the client's website? Use i-frame?
Re: CMS
I just updated my question. This page shows the whole admin page and we only need the content to show up on the client's page:
http://wearepuppeteers.com/cms/content.php?page=2
How do I isolate the content from the page to post via i-frame on the client's Event page? Once we do get the content posted on the client's page, is it fully responsive? Thank you for your help! Steve.

Re: CMS
- Remove all other content from the page
- place the CMS view in a layout grid so it becomes flexible
- place the CMS view in a layout grid so it becomes flexible
Re: CMS
Pablo, I removed the content on a test page, placed a layout grid where the content should go for the events calendar, and then placed CMS view in the layout grid...as you instructed.
In the CMS view, the login info for the CMS admin was entered in the page properties. The page shows a blank area:
http://wearepuppeteers.com/dev/02-02-20 ... th-cms.php
I noticed that the CMS view "box" is not recognized as an object in the layout grid and the object manager shows it as free floating....and not in the new layout grid.
If possible please let me know what to do. Also, what happened to the i-frame idea?
Thank you, Steve

Re: CMS
Please try not do too much at the same time.
Step 1
Go back to the working situation
Step 2
Remove all other content from the page
Step 3
place the CMS view in a layout grid

Re: CMS
Hi Pablo, I appreciate your help and understanding. OK...I redid the page and the CMS view does now appear within the layout grid where the content for the calendar is supposed to go. The login info for the database was entered in the CMS View properties. However, nothing shows up. http://wearepuppeteers.com/dev/02-02-20 ... th-cms.php
What should I try next? Thank you for taking the time to help me! Steve.

Re: CMS
But it did work before you made changed, right?
http://wearepuppeteers.com/cms/content.php?page=2
How did you go from
http://wearepuppeteers.com/cms/content.php?page=2
to
http://wearepuppeteers.com/dev/02-02-20 ... th-cms.php
?
Somewhere you must have changed the settings so it no longer works.

Re: CMS
OK...I did exactly what was instructed.... I placed a layout grid on the page where the content was to show up and then put a CMS View object in the layout grid. The login details in the properties for the CMS View were entered (not changing anything). And yes, the content does show up when viewing the CMS Admin page, but does not show up in the CMS View object placed on the client's web page. As far as using a CMS View object on the page, how is it that we would use the login for the database? Are we missing something?
If this approach is not working, you mentioned the use of an i-frame. Once again, I am at a loss for knowing how to extract the frame with the content from the CMS Content page, and having it show up either in an i-frame or in the CMS View object placed in the layout grid.
And finally, please respond to this: How do other people manage to place updates from the CMS to their web page(s)? Thank you, Steve.

Re: CMS
Step 1
Open this page in WWB
http://wearepuppeteers.com/cms/content.php
Step 2
Remove all content from the page with exception of the CMS view.
Now you have a working page without all the extra elements.
Step 3
The next step is to make the content flexible so you can display it inside an inline frame on another page. This is what you want, right?
- Add an layout grid to the page
- set the grid to one column
- Drag the CMS view inside the column
Step 4:
Publish the page.
Now you can use this page on another website via an inline frame:
http://wearepuppeteers.com/cms/content.php?page=2
