Canonical URL section of the Page Properties

Post by WYSI RICH »

Hello!

After doing some SEO testing, I have been told the following:

" Warning, no 301 redirects are in place to redirect traffic to your preferred domain.
Pages that load successfully both with and without www. are treated as duplicate content!
Not all versions of your page point to the same URL.

URL Resolved URL
http://vintagevolksweddings.co.uk/
MAXREDIRECTS
http://www.vintagevolksweddings.co.uk/
http://www.vintagevolksweddings.co.uk/

https://vintagevolksweddings.co.uk/
MAXREDIRECTS
https://www.vintagevolksweddings.co.uk/
https://www.vintagevolksweddings.co.uk/

Search engines see www.vintagevolksweddings.co.uk and vintagevolksweddings.co.uk as two different websites with the same content. This causes them to see a lot of duplicate content, which they don't like.
Right now your website is not directing traffic to www.vintagevolksweddings.co.uk and vintagevolksweddings.co.uk to the same URL. It is crucial that you fix this.
Use the rel="canonical" tag to tell search engines which is the definitive version of your domain. Use a 301 redirect to divert traffic from your secondary domain.

This issue can be caused by problems with a website's SSL configuration. Check your site's SSL configuration for any errors."

I'm I right in thinking that by going to - Page properties / SEO / Canonical URL / and typing in https://www.vintagevolksweddings.co.uk - this will solve the issue?

I know this is not strictly a WWB issue, but just wanted to make sure this was the correct use of the Canonical URL section of the Page Properties.

Thanks!

Hi Pablo,

Okay, thanks. I'll have a look at that side of things.

Thanks again!
