Email link and Outlook

Post by mcruss »

I set up three email addresses with links but when I click on the email link, my screen prompts me for an Outlook password. I do not use Outlook and I'm fairly sure there are others out there who also do not use it. And once I click on the link, it is very difficult to get rid of the Outlook password request!

So is there any way to avoid Outlook? Or is it something I need to do outside of WYSIWYG (version 15, Windows 7)?

URL/page with emails is championsruncondos.com/hoa-board.php

Sounds like you have Outlook set to be the default email app, and that is within Windows or your browser, not WWB. Been a long time since I've used Win7 so don't remember exactly where to set that.

As mentioned by bkjohns this is due to Outlook being the main preconfigured email client of your PC. It uses the "mailto" feature to send emails onclick of a link opens Outlook.

The same would apply if you had configured the likes of gmail, hotmail or yahoo to be the main email client to use "mailto"

Yes you can use a form instead (recommend and safer) which can be setup to use more than one email.

Why shouldn't I use 'mailto' in the form action?

As of WWB12
New feature: Added the ability to send form data to an email address based on the selection in a combobox. Users can select a 'department' from a dropdown menu, and have the email sent to just that department's email address.
