Don't publish - am I using it wrong?

Post by alan_sh »

I have a web site with some assets (some text and a button) that I will be using in the future, but for now I don't need them. I don't want to delete them, but I don't want them published. So, I right clicked each of them and on the menu there was 'don't publish asset' which I thought would do what I want. But when I selected that and then did a preview, the assets (the text and button) were still there. I don't want to 'hide' the asset as I know I will need it soon.

I created a new .wbs file with just those two items in to see if something I'd done had upset things but that does it as well. The project is here https://www.dropbox.com/s/4w5385tpaw8am ... h.wbs?dl=1

So, have I missed what 'don't publish asset' means or is this a small bugette in WWB. I'm using the latest Dec 8th build.

'Assets' means images, video or other files. Not the object's HTML.
This option was added to prevent larger files from being uploaded each time you publish the page.
It does not prevent the HTML from being added to the page.

OK - thanks.

That's a shame. I'll find another way to do it.

If you rightclick the page in the "Site manager" and then choose "Don't publish this page" maybe it works better...

I want to publish the page. It's just a couple of items on the page (some text and a button) that I will need later but I don't want at the moment.

I've hidden them for now and changed the view so I can see hidden items (so I don't forget they are there).

Can't you just uncheck the objects you want to hide in the "Object Manager"?
