Web Builder 17.1.4 WebP Support in Online Photo Album/Galley Extension

I was wondering if the extensions now accept WebP image files?

The extension was created before WebP existed, so it does not have support for this format.
However, the built-in Slideshow and Photogallery also support an online mode.

In a gallery of hundreds of images, is there any page speed loading time advantage in using the 'folder on the server' opposed to using the default 'local images'? My pages are taking too long to load.

There are no special options for the speeding up the online gallery.
But you may consider uses multiple galleries (with different online folders).
