Publish not Updating

Post by cwlutterloh »

I'm not sure what changed, I have an internal intranet I have been updating for years. I'm running an older version 15.2.2, if I check for updates it does error "unable to query latest version". I've even disabled AV...

I went to make changes and Preview looks good, I see the files on the local drive where I published to even the files I added, I always publish entire website and all files, but the site doesn't update anything. I've tried ctrl+F5, tried another computer but still shows last successful update. I've applied updates and rebooted server. I checked IIS and all is running and pointed to the same folder as software.

Any ideas where to go next?

First note that version 15 is no longer supported.
However, it does not suddenly stop working.

If you do not see the updates, then here's a checklist:
- clear your browser
- clear the server cache
- did you use the same page name?
- did you publish to the same folder?
- check the publish log for errors.
- make sure nothing on the server has changed.

First please note WWB15 is no longer supported. The last version released was the following WYSIWYG WebBuilder15.4.5.which you can download from the Legacy Perhaps your Firewall is blocking the upload even though your have deactivated your AV.

I agree it wouldn't just stop working, either someone or something changed something I just need help figuring out what.

The software is on the web server. It's for a local intranet site. I'll try updating the software to check

Did you enable the full publish log (log level -> all)?

I only see "Enable Logging" as a checkbox as an option.

The log level can be set in the publish profile.
However, I am not sure if this already was available in WB15.

I don't think it is available in this version just to log or not by a check box.

So I did a check on my restore points and I see at some point it created a folder called "c:\local publish" not sure where that came from I typically published to "c:\MH intranet" before doing a restore from a while back any ideas?

Ok, I did a restore point from 2 weeks back and it's asking me to re-register the software. Could this be why publishing broke?

EDIT:

Ok, this indeed did something, I went to make a slight change to see it if worked. Clicked publish and all my settings were gone, it has that "c:\local publish" folder in as the publish location.

Why would it want to make me register the software?

Would using new AD account cause this?

Ok, going back to the old restore point and using the old AD account it all works.

So how do I use the same .wbs project file for the new user?

Do you have a profile for MH Intranet in the built in Publish Web Site tool. My guess is that you have been uploading the project using the My Computer profile and that is the reason it has been published to C:\local publish

No, I only see the one "Publish to:" profile.(for the new AD account)
I see two for the old AD profile, I entered the same details for the new AD account but just doesn't update site.

I am presuming then that the Host and Folder are set to C:\local publish whereas you have stated that it should be published to c:\MH intranet. If that is the case then you need to edit the profile to the correct location.

Just to add that when editing the Type needs to be Local Folder, URL = http:// and Folder = c:\MH intranet"

Yes, I changed the "publish to:" back to c:\\MH Intranet and it does update the files in the folder but the site doesn't change. I think I'll have to do a restore and use the old AD account.

Is there something I have to do to use the program with another AD account?

Sorry, what do you mean by AD account - the software is licensed to the computer, so as long as you are using the same one there shouldn't be a problem.

AD (MS Active Directory) That's what I thought too but if I log in as another admin, it wants me to register the software again.
