Problem with WYSIWYG (V18.3.1)

Post by Santana614 »

Greetings Everyone,
Today updated the program to the latest version 18.3.1.
Since the update the program will not open, it will launch the small window that shows "loading extensions", but when the program is supposed to launch, it just closes all together and never opens.I do not get and error message or anything, it just never opens.

I've tried uninstalling/ reinstalling both 32bit and 64bit versions and no luck, same thing happens with both versions.
I checked my firewall settings all is good, program is listed in "allowed apps".
I am on Windows 10..

I tried reinstalling the previous version of WYSIWYG18 and it also did not work, the same thing happened, however, I installed version 17.4.1 (had it saved on my Laptop) and it works fine. I have no idea what to do now.
Any help/ feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Did you check if the software isn't blocked by your firewall or virusscanner?
Or maybe the documents folder (Documents\WYSIWYG Web Builder) is blocked by Windows ransomware protection.
To solve this, rename the folder to 'WYSIWYG Web Builder Old' then restarting the application will create the folder with the correct permissions.

Thank you for the response Pablo.
I have checked firewall, doesn't seem to be blocking it. I use Avast.
I have tried disabling antivirus also and no luck.

I tried renaming the folder as you suggested, it would not let me saying it was being used by another program

I have since uninstalled everything related toWYSIWYG, deleted the folder (Documents\WYSIWYG Web Builder) using LockHunter, reinstalled wysiwyg18 and the same thing happens, also tried checking windows ransomware setting but will not let me, I get an error that I have to contact IT. I am under administrator account and this is a personal laptop not for work.

I have no idea what else to do, I have been trying to figure this out for 2 days already.

I'm not sure if this is why it won't let it open, but I ran the((Documents\WYSIWYG Web Builder) on LockHunter and it's always at least one of these that comes up and won't let me unlock/terminate the process...

Did you restart your computer before trying to rename the folder?

What was the previous version of WWB that worked for you?

Yes I did restart the computer before trying to rename the folder.

Sorry, I didn't have time to mess with it yesterday.

Version 18.3.0 64bit, was the last version to work properly. I Installed it again and it won't launch anymore.

I’ve downloaded the latest (18.3.1) from the download page multiple times thinking it was corrupt, but same thing happens every-time I’ve tried both 64bit and 32bit.

I also had WB17.4.1 exe file saved, I installed and it opened up, no problems.

Don't know if this would help, EventViewer log https://ibb.co/zXgGvNd

I still think the software is being block by another process (like a firewall or virus-scanner).
There has never been another reason for the software not working.

Maybe you can try to install it under a different Windows user account to see if that works?

Greetings Friend,
No luck, I couldn't figure it out. I did a PC reset and it seems to be working fine now. I lost all my files, but it works.
Thank you so much for all of your help.

Didn't you backup your files first?

Yeah, I meant my WYSIWYG files, websites, extensions etc, sorry. I lost these files while I was trying to fix the issue, not due to the "reset" using LockHunter, I thought it would only delete the file I mentioned before that would prevent me from renaming the folder... but it ended up deleting the entire folder (Documents\WYSIWYG Web Builder). and not, it wasn't in the recycling bin.
Everything else is good, just had to reinstall all of my software(s).
