How to add icons?

Post by Fredl »

I am working on a very simple page, I'd like to insert an icon for "phone" next to some text (the person's name) I have the cursor in position but when I go to "insert" "Fontawesome" and select the phone icon I can't get it to appear on my page. I've tried dragging it onto the layout grid, double clicking it, etc but nothing makes it show up on my page. How do I insert an icon between text? What's odd is I know I have been able to add them before, but I can't remember how I did it.Thanks in advance for instructions

*****Edit***** I found a video online that shows a user dragging an icon onto a page, it wasn't visible until he dragged one corner and expanded it, which I tried and it worked, however I still can't place it in line with some text, basically I want to have "Name..icon for phone...phone number", I figured since they are basically fonts I could include them in a text string, but that appears not to be the case. I guess if I made a grid with a column for the icon that might work, I was hoping for something simpler.

Are you saying when you go to the toolbox, drag 'icon' into workspace, open up the properties, select the icon that the icon is not showing? Does it show in the workspace? If you are trying to insert an icon within a text box, i'm not sure this possible. You can add an image but the output format must be set to use <p> tags.

If you want to have text and an image in one line then you can use a card, but you can also use a breadcrumb with one item, for example.
You can see this demonstrated in many of the example templates:

I was trying to drag my chosen icon from the large collection of icons that appears when you are on the "insert" page rather than choosing the generic "icon" from the toolbox. At first it looked like it wasn't on the page, but on the video example I watched I saw the user drag one corner and he resized it and it was visible. I did that and it worked, but not how I wanted it to, as the icon won't sit in a line of text. Pablo suggested a card, or a breadcrumb with one item, I'm not sure how to implement the breadcrumb, and a card won't work for my layout.
