Large AI image file sizes

Post by dosmore »

Hi,

I'm very impressed with some of the new features in WB19, especially the AI image generator. However, the file sizes of the images produced by the generator are generally too large for website use. Is there a setting I could apply that would return compressed images? I also get an error when I try to produce variants of an AI image (because the file size is greater than 4MB). Many thanks for any assistance.

You can set the size in the properties:

However, for dali-e 3, the minimum size is 1024

Download the images and then resize them. I'd rather have too big that too small.

Download Microsoft PowerToys and it's built into that.

Thanks for your response, I did set the size at the lowest level (256), but the output file was still over 4MB. However, I'm using dali-e 3, so I suppose that's why the files are larger as the minimum size is actually 1024. Is there there any chance you could build in image compression and optimisation in future editions of WB? Many thanks for your help.

Dali-e 3 was released only two weeks, so there was little time to optimize WWB for this model.
But I will investigate if additional options can be added.

Note that WWB already has built-in resample functionality for standard images.

I use TinyPNG, a free service that does an excellent job reducing the size of .jpg, .png, and .webp images. However, I first use a graphics program to resize as desired, then run them through TinyPNG. The results are excellent and there is no visible loss of quality. In some cases, file size is reduced by 60+%.
