Google fonts not showing up on Mac laptop
We are seeing that Monserrat and other fonts are not being displayed on this website (preview link):
https://mediapeopleintl.com/clients/EAA ... index.html
If you need to access the project file:
https://mediapeopleintl.com/clients/EAA ... -20-23.wbs
What do we need to do in order for the client to see the fonts that were used?...and not the default serif fonts?
He uses a MacBook Pro, 13-inch screen. Thank you! and Happy New Year.

Re: Google fonts not showing up on Mac laptop
The HTML on your website is missing the font files.
However, your project works correct for me when I publish it myself.
Based on the project you have shared it looks like you are not using the latest update.
So, I suggest to update and then republish all files to see if that fixes the issue.

Re: Google fonts not showing up on Mac laptop
Pablo, I looked but cannot find how to include fonts in the html. Do I use the Google Fonts tool and add the appropriate fonts to the list? It is puzzling to me how we can look at the preview link on a PC and use several different web browsers....and the fonts are displaying as planned. Is this a Mac issue only? Thanks again for your input.
Re: Google fonts not showing up on Mac laptop
You do not have to edit the html.
This is not a Mac specific issue.
Please make sure you have the late update of the software and then republish the pages.

Pablo...only 2 questions. Please respond to both.
Do I use the Google Fonts tool and add the appropriate fonts to the list?
Will the upgrade fix the issue?
Thank you, a loyal customer.

Re: Google fonts not showing up on Mac laptop
I will suggest you use the built in Google font manager to install the font.

Re: Google fonts not showing up on Mac laptop
Although the link is old and reading from the following Google Montserrat Font it may be that Safari on Mac has issue with displaying the font correctly. Note if this is the case then it is not with the software but with the Safari browser on Mac to which can only be resolved by Safari or Apple (Mac).
I would recommend that you always install the latest version of the software so to ensure any issues are fixed.
As of Wed Dec 06, 2023 9:19 am a update was released "Fixed: Google Font issues for 'condensed' and 'expanded' fonts: this is included in WYSIWYG Web Builder 19.0.4 Please install and see if this resolves this for you.

OK...I did purchase the upgrade and will install it. Thank you all for your help. Will let you know if issues have been resolved.
Re: Google fonts not showing up on Mac laptop
Hi, I just installed WB19 and now see that saving and previewing the site is really really slow. Should I restart the machine and then try working with it?
I also used testingbot.com to preview the site in Safari and it does look as expected. Now...back to the very slow previewing and saving. Any ideas?
Thanks again! Steve

Re: Google fonts not showing up on Mac laptop
The software should not be any slower than the previous version.
Are you using the 64bit version?
Did you add webbuilder.exe to the exception list of your firewall and virusscanner?

Re: Google fonts not showing up on Mac laptop
Hi, Yes, using the 64-bit version. And no, we did not list the exception. We'll have a look at that and figure out how to do that....will post another response. Thanks, Steve
Re: Google fonts not showing up on Mac laptop
Cannot find how to list an exception. We have Windows Defender and also use ToalAV for online protection. Windows says:
-------------------------------------------------------
Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Security > Virus & threat protection.
Under Virus & threat protection settings, select Manage settings, and then under Exclusions, select Add or remove exclusions.
--------------------------------------------------------
However, we do not have the "Manage Setting" option. The OS is Win10 Pro. I did restart the machine and it did not help. It literally takes 2 minutes to preview the whole site and/or publish. Other programs have been closed. Any ideas on how to speed up the WB19? WB18 was very fast in previewing and publishing.... Also, while previewing or publishing, the screen goes black for a second or two....don't know if that tells you anything.

Re: Google fonts not showing up on Mac laptop
Hi, thanks for the suggestion but we already did that and have no "Manage Exceptions" available ....NONE listed. Any ideas on how to speed up previewing and publishing WB19? It worked fine in WB18. No other changes to the machine have happened....just the update to WB19.
Re: Google fonts not showing up on Mac laptop
Maybe you have changed the log level?
Or maybe other settings are different

What other information can I supply? The update was installed using the .exe file that was extracted from the zip file. What log files would have been changed? We are not aware of how to check for log files. Are any other users having the same or similar issues? Thanks for your help... Steve; a loyal customer

Re: Google fonts not showing up on Mac laptop
OK...I have shared a demo project...in response to your circled message. Please review the chain of comments from you and other people.
You told me to get the update to WB19...which I did, and it is extremely slow in previewing in a browser and with publishing.
This is the same "Demo" project for this website: https://mediapeopleintl.com/clients/EAA ... index.html Project file: https://mediapeopleintl.com/clients/EAA ... -20-23.wbs
So on the log level. What do I look for. Can you at least tell me if there is a wrong setting...or, do I un-check "Enable Logging"? and...clear the log file? Or...what steps should I take? Just trying to move on and get this project done! Thanks.
NEW DEVELOPMENT...I just went in to save a couple of minor changes i.e., removing the WB19 logo on each page. Now I get an error message:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Access denied because the application does not have enough permissions, or another application has the file open and locked.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What in the world do I do now? I need to save this project! HELP. I just closed the program, and re-opened. Is this program not installed correctly?

Re: Google fonts not showing up on Mac laptop
This error means that the software cannot access the folder where the files are stored.
This is most likely either the firewall or Windows ransomware protection that is blocking the folder.

viewtopic.php?t=97949
I have downloaded your project and for me the entire website publishing within 20 seconds.
Is this what you mean by slow?
I also published the website with WB18 and it publishes at the same speed.
Note that you have a lot of unnecessary breakpoints, so you can optimize every by reduce the number of breakpoints.
Usually, when a website uses layout grids it only needs 2 or 3 breakpoints.
Too many breakpoints will use a lot of extra calculations to generate the HTML.
Also, you are using a lot of different fonts in your project (14!), This will also impact the performance because each font has to be downloaded from the Google website and processed, so the software can generate the output HTML.

Re: Google fonts not showing up on Mac laptop
Hi Pablo. Happy New Year!
Which break points do you recommend that we keep? We were trying to cover all bases and understand the bloat from the extra code. By the way, the one common background graphic file for the master page header and footer seem to be replicated for each breakpoint and each page. This does not happen on other websites that we've built. It would be great to only use one background .jpg or .png and not all of the repetition. How can we correct that?
Thank you for the other related info and links. We are not able to add exceptions to the Windows Security. And, do not know how to bypass the antivirus. I just tried to preview the entire website in a browser and it took 9 minutes. At times, the screen goes black until the next page is loaded.
So, I installed WB19 on a different machine and it is working except for the fact that it is recognized as a trial version. How do I validate the serial number for the upgrade purchase that I did a few days ago? Please advise! It would be great to get this project behind us!

Re: Google fonts not showing up on Mac laptop
This is a personal preference, but with layout grids you can consider starting with only a 480 or 768 breakpoints for the mobile layout (stacked).
If it works on another system then this confirm that the issue is not with your project or the software.
You cannot 'bypass' the antivirus, because if that was possible then a real virus could do the same!
The only way to solve the blocking is by add webbuilder.exe to the exception list.
Also, it's important that Windows ransom protection is not blocking the documents folder. Other webbuilder cannot access the files it needs to create the website.

Re: Google fonts not showing up on Mac laptop
Pablo, same project update: We removed WB19 and our TotalAV protection, and upon checking the Microsoft Defender, it does now allow us to list an exception ...which we did. With that done, we re-installed WB19 and it is still taking very long to preview in a browser and/or publish the site. Do you have any other ideas as to what could be causing WB 19 to behave this way? In the meantime, we had to do some updates to other sites and needed to use WB18...which is working fine as it was prior to all of this. Any ideas? Thank you. Steve
Re: Google fonts not showing up on Mac laptop
Did you add webbuilder.exe to the Windows ransomware protection too?
Because it works on another computer, this can only be something specific on this computer. So, only you can solve this by going through all settings.

Re: Google fonts not showing up on Mac laptop
The TotalAV protection is un-installed. It has a place for an exception but I would have expected the machine to behave differently with it gone. I will re-install, set the exception and see if it makes a difference. And, you're absolutely right- the machine must have some issue and I may need to have some 3rd part help with that. Will let you know what I find out.... One more thing...does anyone else have this issue? Steve
Re: Google fonts not showing up on Mac laptop
I am not referring to TotalAV protection, but Windows ransomware protection

Re: Google fonts not showing up on Mac laptop
I just now added the exception to the ransomware section of the MS Defender....checked to see if it is listed, re-started the machine and then re-installed WB19. Tried previewing the project and it is behaving in the same manner...extremely slow. After several minutes, the browser opens. So, the exception does not seem to have done anything. Sorry to be such a pain, but we can't be the only people experiencing this development with WB19.
WB18 was opened and an earlier version of the same project previews and publishes in less than a minute...like it was before. Puzzling indeed. Anything else that I might look at? Thanks again. Steve

Re: Google fonts not showing up on Mac laptop
I have not heard about this behavior before so currently you are the only user with this issue.
If you a new create project, (just to test) does that work? Or is it also slow?

Re: Google fonts not showing up on Mac laptop
Good idea...I'll try a test but need to put out some other fires first....will reply when test is done. Steve
Re: Google fonts not showing up on Mac laptop
OK...thought I would get the test done before other stuff...I loaded a 4 year old WB site and when it opened, I did get the typical message about "...this project was built using an earlier version..etc." Upon previewing in a browser, it loaded quickly! I did not try to re-save. But it points to the idea that something in generating html code for the Allergy Clinic website is slowing down the process dramatically.
I am wondering it it has anything to do with all of the multitude of background images being generated from the Master page header and footer (sand colored background).
It was originally created using the WB background generator and we took ONE of the resulting .png's and replaced the generated background with the static .jpg ...for both the header and footer background image. When I look at the files in the project folder, it is listing re-sized background images for each break point header and footers. For other websites that we've created using WB with a master page, we never saw this since only one image was used as a background. Can you have a look at the project file and/or html and see what I am talking about?
Here is a link to a screen grab showing the pngs listed in the "images" folder:
https://mediapeopleintl.com/clients/EAA ... -04-24.jpg
Project file: https://mediapeopleintl.com/clients/EAA ... -20-23.wbs
I am wondering ...if we used a .jpg version of the background of the header/footer...then why are all of those .png's being generated?

Re: Google fonts not showing up on Mac laptop
These images are generated by the master page, because 'header-o2' uses a texture as background in breakpoint 1366 and below.
Re: Google fonts not showing up on Mac laptop
OK...let me check on that and replace with the static image. Should the generated .png's go away after I do that...or, do I need to go in to the images folder and remove them? And ultimately, could this be the cause of the long preview/publish times?
Re: Google fonts not showing up on Mac laptop
The software will never remove any files from the server, so you will have to do this manually.
No, because it works fast for me. This functionality has not changed compared to previous version.
Also, you did try it on another computer yourself right ?
Normally, if I run into a problem like this, I would remove each page from the project one by one until I found the page or object which is causing the issue to narrow down where to look.
However, it work for me, so there is not much I can do on my side to test this.
Code: Select all

Thanks for having a look. It must be the machine settings or something else. Will have an IT guy I know have a look at the machine. Thanks again.
