Phantom page in website
My website is: paacaz.com and is for the Prescott Antique Auto Club, designed to provide information to the club members as well as the public. When you open the site, choose the drop down menu WATSON LAKE SHOW, scroll to CAR SHOW, it opens as it should, however if you select another page, then return to the CAR SHOW, page, it opens to a slide show of the trophies given out at the show. When I discovered this I went to the site manager and marked that slide show at DO NOT PUBLISH. I also took out the entire slide show link that was on the HOME page (lower Right) which removed the link to the slide show, yet it continues to show up. What next?
Re: Phantom page in website
Did you also remove the phantom page from the server?
Sometimes it can take a while for changes to propagate.

Re: Phantom page in website
When you remove a page from the Site Manager then it will not be removed from the server. Because there is no way to know which exact files to remove, some files may be shared by multiple pages .
So you will need to manually remove the file from the server.

Re: Phantom page in website
When I manually removed the page "trophies_2024_ss.html" from the server I now have the same problem, however instead of loading the correct page, it shows "404 not found, the resources you requested could not be found on this server. It does not load the "wls_car_show" page that it should.

Re: Phantom page in website
Did you republish all pages again, did you refresh your browser? You mean this page http://paacaz.com/wls_car_show.html
Re: Phantom page in website
Yes that is the page that doesn't return after you leave it and return to it. With your suggestion, I republished the entire website and refreshed the browser. The same error message occurs. It is very important to get this fixed as this is the 50th. anniversary of the show.
Re: Phantom page in website
When I visit your site and visit your car page from the home page (index), it works. But when I leave and go to another page, the other pages are linking to: http://paacaz.com/trophies_2024_ss.html which gives you the 404 page error as this page doesn't exist on the server.
Another thing, the home button on other pages only reloads the same page. It doesn't go back to the actual home page!
You need to fix the menu on the other pages including the home button and upload fresh new files.

I don't understand why,(when I remove TROPHIES_2024_SS.HTML from the server) it still points to that file and not the wls_car_show.html? If I delete the page entirely and rebuild it, will I still have the same issue?

Re: Phantom page in website
Although you may have removed from the server it is still getting called from the menu. In the dropdown you have a item named "Car Show" this is linked to the http://paacaz.com/trophies_2024_ss.html you will need to remove this from "Car Show" along with the html page in the project (if still there) save and then republish all pages again.
If you then still wish to use "Car Show: in the menu you will then need to point it to the "New" page in question
http://paacaz.com/wls_car_show.html and the republish all pages before doing so you should also "Fix" the broken link/reference to the "Home" page as mentioned by crispy68 as it leads to nowhere on selected and remains on the same page...
Please also note that viewing the source html of the page showed me this along with that you may still be using WWB14 which is no longer supported.
Screenshot showing reference to the page in question still in the menu which in turn will still get called when you select "Car Show" in menu..

Also are you also the same?
Link works on preview, not on publish

Re: Phantom page in website
Bacon Fries, thank you for your support. I did purchase WB20 on 1/22/25 but I have be holding off on copying the files until I get WB14 corrected. Another question please. What is the source of the screenshot and how do I access it? Finally, yes I am the same "link works on preview, not on publish".

Re: Phantom page in website
You can view the source (the html) of a page by opening it with a html editor such as Notepad++ or in this instance I viewed it in the browser by adding view-source: before the url in the address bar. For example I used this in the calendar page and it provided the results you see in the screenshot. What is the source of the screenshot and how do I access it
There is another issues and that is you do not have an index page either in the likes of index.html/index.php or even index.htm but you do have a home.html. Using home.html for the "Home" page is not correct the "Home" page should always be either index.html/index.htm or index.php if using php such as a form.
Now I think your whole issue lies with you have only made changes to the "Home" page menu and not the others as this shows correctly. I would check each and all menus on each page and ensure they are pointing/linking/referring to the correct pages/urls and hopefully you will resolve this.
One example of a page with issues is the following http://paacaz.com/wls_overview.html# try clicking on "Home" it should go to your "Home" (index) but it goes to a 404 http://paacaz.com/page2.html
Calendar Page in the dropdown select "Car Show" it goes to http://paacaz.com/trophies_2024_ss.html giving the 404 and clicking on "Home" it stays on the page..http://paacaz.com/calendar.html
As already mentioned you will need to check each page and its menu for issues..
