Happy for constructive suggestions to improve site ......

Post by brynj »

Still under construction so some buttons not working yet ...

Target audience is recycled-teenagers so doesn't need anything to flash :D

I think I might need to add a break point, as although it is responsive, I think there is too much on the index page which means a lot of scrolling - any thoughts ? ( I'm just looking into 'Easy Breakpoint' at the moment to see if I can use that for simplicity )

On a free temporary web host for construction/testing purposes.

It all looks nice. But your hamburger menu comes over the title at different breakpoints. Why not have it as text to a certain point and then go to a hamburger menu. If you put it in a layout grid and made that a 'sticky' that would solve the problem.

Personally, I don't like the flashing "Walk East Norfolk".

Thanks Alan - will look at the Hamburger menu (I wasn't even sure if it was needed).

Re the flashing "Walking East Norfolk" - I put normal text originally but it was sort of lost in the image and not that easy to see - changing colours just made it out of step with the rest of the site. I also tried with a background to the text so it was more visible but this looked wrong as well. I ended up with the pulsing text as it stands out rather than a preference - any thoughts on how to use normal text in a better way ?

For the text, I would say using a chunkier font will help it stand out against the image background. You could also add some text shadowing and/or text stroke to help give it some depth.

Thanks Crispy - i will have a play and try some more options ... I think part of the problem is different colours in pictures

So, using a black font for example in the same picture, is visible against a the light blue sky part of the image, but not against a tree part of the image - not a 100% accurate statement but that type of thing.
