Font problems after changing the computer
Font display problems after changing the computer
After changing the computer (Win10, 3K, 2880 x 1620, Display Setting 175%, WWB Zoom Level 175%), fonts are no longer displayed correctly in my WWB projects.
I've already tried the following:
* high DPI settings enabled
* enable Direct2d
* changing the High DPI settings for the application in Win10
Unfortunately none of this worked. Where is my mistake? What else can I do. It affects all of my projects.
I am also looking forward to your support.

Yes, I don't know how often anymore ...
What I didn't do is turn Direct2D off via the registry. Only via WWB ...

Re: Font problems after changing the computer
I am pretty sure this is related to the DPI configuration or Direct2D. I cannot think of anything else.

Re: Font problems after changing the computer
Do you still have the old PC if you have can you check the DPI settings and then try these on your new PC
Re: Font problems after changing the computer
Thank you for your quick support. Unfortunately I don't get any further. I've tried all the settings.
100% was set on the old computer (1650 x 1050). If I also set 100% on the new computer, it looks pretty good, but e.g. the font Roboto light is also shown a little differently (see picture). Unfortunately, however, you can't work with 100% at 2880 x 1620 - it's just too small.
As soon as I set more than 100%, it no longer fits (spacing too large, fonts too thick etc.) - regardless of what I set at WWB (High DPI Settings, Direct2D, Zoom level, etc.). The settings in WIN (changing High DPI) do not change anything either. After each change, I restarted the computer. I have already reinstalled WWB.
No problem with other apps such as Affinity (Designer, Publisher etc.).
What can that be? I am grateful for any support.

Re: Font problems after changing the computer
Did you install all fonts on the new computer?
Re: Font problems after changing the computer
I guess so. The fonts used in the test projects should definitely be installed.

Re: Font problems after changing the computer
As Pablo's question did you reinstall the fonts on the "New" PC they are not part of the project but need to be reinstalled on the PC so that the software can use them! After changing the computer
Re: Font problems after changing the computer
Yes, the fonts are new installed and they are also displayed in WWB.
Re: Font problems after changing the computer
I am still pretty sure this is related to the DPI. There has never been another reason for this behavior.
1. First make sure High DPI support is enabled in WWB.
2. Set all Windows DPI settings in the application's properties to default.
3. restart the application.
If that does not solve the problem then one by one try the application's DPI option.
Each change requires a restart of the application.
It is important to note that text is rendered by Windows based on the DPI settings.
From the application's point of view the text is always rendered the same way.

Re: Font problems after changing the computer
Many thanks for your tireless support.
I have just followed these steps again. No change.
But I also tested further. Could it be a problem with the fonts? If I click a text box, change the font to another one, and then go back to the original font, everything shows up correctly. However, I have to do this for each text field. Which would be a hard work for all projects.
Unfortunately, it's not that "easy" with the projects where I work with styles. If I change the font in the text field it fits, go I back to the style, it no longer fits - but I need the style for the different breakpoints.
It looks like only text with line spacing is affected (e.g. navigation or footer is not a problem).

Re: Font problems after changing the computer
This sounds more like a Direct2D issue. For example a video card driver issue.
Did you also try to disable direct2d for text?

Re: Font problems after changing the computer
OK. The video card drivers are up to date (according to the Lenovo website).
Where can I disable direct2d for text? Sorry, I am not very familiar with.

Uncheck Enable Direct2D rich text rendering in Tools-> Options-> User InterfaceWhere can I disable direct2d for text?
Re: Font problems after changing the computer
Sorry, you mean in WWB. I thought there was another possibility. Also tried again. Of course with a restart of WWB. Nothing changes.
Re: Font problems after changing the computer
Are you sure nothing changes?
It should have impact on the way your text is displayed.

Re: Font problems after changing the computer
Hello Pablo, you are right! It looks like the settings are working. But only for projects in which I haven't worked with text styles. If styles with line spacing (!) are used, the line spacing is incorrect. It seems to work without line spacing. I still tried a lot and took some pictures of it. After every change, the PC was completely restarted.
The last image is a comparison I just made on the new PC. Here you can also see the different distances between the lines (with and without style). I created the same on the old PC. There are no differences between Style and NonStyle.

Re: Font problems after changing the computer
Are you sure 'Enable Direct2d rich text rendering' is OFF?
I cannot think of anything else that will affects the text.
Or maybe the used font is corrupt?

Re: Font problems after changing the computer
Here are images of newly created examples with the following settings:
Enable High DPI Support is on
Direct2D is off
High DPI scaling for the application is on (tried also with off)
The first image: Now with two different fonts (Arial and Verdana). Non Style and Style with Line Spacing 1.3. The same behavior for both fonts if there is line spacing in the text style.
The second image: Non Style and Text Style without line spacing.
Can two standard fonts be corrupt? It also affects other fonts in the projects

Re: Font problems after changing the computer
Do you have a demo project?
Re: Font problems after changing the computer
Sorry. Forgot. Is now uploaded. Link above.
Re: Font problems after changing the computer
What is the URL of the project file?
Re: Font problems after changing the computer
Thanks for the demo.
The definition of the styles is not correct. The 'line-height' attribute is missing in 'custom styles'

Re: Font problems after changing the computer
Sorry, what a stupid mistake.
Thank you for your patience and help. Hopefully I'm slowly getting the right settings together.
Another problem was that I used a font in the test projects that doesn't seem to be compatible with LineSpacing settings. No matter what settings I made, the font did not react the way it should. I have now solved the problem without LineSpacing, but with Line Height settings.
If Direct2D is disabled, the cursor moves under the text line when editing. If I switch on Direct2D, the cursor is back in the text line. However, this only applies to old projects?
If I want to use line spacing in headings, do I also enter this in the style under Custom Styles, (display: inline;)?
Thanks again!

Re: Font problems after changing the computer
Unfortunately, some fonts are not compatible with Direct2D. I have no control over this.
Text is rendered by Windows. From the application's point of view all fonts are processed the same way.
Yes, display: inline should be included otherwise the browser will make it a block element.
