Protected page doesn't work when user roles checked

If I type in the user names in the "allow users" it will work but not just by choosing user roles.

You have to get a sample project (.wbs file and any supporting files) which illustrates the issue and then upload that to a file sharing service (e.g. dropbox). Then post a link to that file on this forum so we can download it and try and reproduce your issue.

Make the project as simple as possible with as few files as possible. So if you post a project with 100 pages to illustrate something wrong with just one of them, you probably won't get a sensible answer.

To be able to help you, I need a DEMO project (.wbs file) so I can see all your settings.
Also, please include a description how to reproduce this problem.

I do not need the complete project because that will only take more time to figure out what you have done.
Basically, I just need a small project with one page and object(s) that are relevant to your question.

In your test project, I opened the 'test' page.
Then in the properties of the 'protect page' object I choose 'User Roles'
This seems to work correct for me.

When I have any of the user roles selected it won't let me in. The demo site is live right now. I have you as an admin. Username is pablo and password is pablo123. I have administrator checked for user roles right now. I can't get in with my sign in or yours. When I uncheck the user roles I can with any. See if it works for you. It looks like you are using a CSV database?
This option does not support user roles.

This is from the help:

Important: User roles are only available when the database type is set to MYSQL, CSV files do not support user roles.
