wb version file associations question

Post by keydog »

been having problems with my computer so Im not sure if this is something with the wb program or my machine

I have versions wb16 and wb 19 on my machine

when I click on the project file for a wb19 project it used to open up wb19 and start the project, now it is telling me the project was created in a previouse verion, also all project files show as wb16 file not the wb19

if I open wb19 and open the project through the program it will open that way

thanks for any help on this

I believe this is related to file association on your PC and not with the software. A similar question was asked see Pablos reply at the following. It mentions WB8 and Windows 10 but if using Windows 11 and WB19 it will still apply.
Pablo wrote: Tue May 12, 2020 2:32 pm I think the file association for the wbs file type is wrongly configured on your system. It is still configured to open for version 8.

Under Windows 10:
In the search field enter 'File Type', select the first item
Now you can update 'wbs' file type and association it with the latest version.

And of course you can also use the file menu to open projects.

File associations are a system feature that lets you choose which applications open specific file types. You can configure these settings through Windows Settings.

I got the newer sites to open correctly but now the older wb16 site can not be opened with wb16
windows thinks this site was built with the newer version now
is there a way in windows 11 to have both wersions of wb work?
not sure if I edit the older site with the newer software if there will be issues

You can open WB16 files via the file menu of WB16.

are there any known issues I will run into if I just publish this old site with the new software, my main concern is there are hidden pages and a login element on this site

There are no known issues. But it is always good to preview first to see if everything works as expected.

Which 'file listing element' are you referring to?
What are your settings?
What do you see, how do you test? Can you please be more specific?

As Pablos question what file listing are you referring to?. As the text looks like code then I would say you are or may be using the PHP File Listing - Version 1.2 If so as its name it is using PHP so cannot be "Previewed" locally and requires it to be published to your host/server and the page extension should be set to .php.
