is it possible to have youtube playlists embedded in my project

Post by stuinpittstown »

I am new to this program. i have a youtube site: https://www.youtube.com/@videohistoryof ... 1/featured

There are many videos and many playlists accumulated over the years.

I had been using an older program (web easy professional) to build a companion website and link
to the youtube videos and playlists. Now the program no longer functions due to removal of serial number server and the existing website does not show the links to the playlists as it once did. (maybe that is why they discontinued use of the product?)
For example in this link : https://www.video-history-catalysis.org ... -1_086.htm
there used to be a menu botton to show a full playlist as the youtube site does- it no longer shows up.
Also I have no way of addending my existing website with new videos.

==================
So i decided to see if i could rebuild this website using wysiwyg and the intro pages went well. I can also link to a youtube video, but i do not see a
way to get the existing playlists embedded into my website with a simple embed command. I put the youtube embed code into an html window and it does not work. Can anyone provide a solution to this problem since i have to way of addending my existing website with new videos.

Thanks for any help or explanations

It's not entirely clear to me which "playlist" functionality you are referring to. What exactly do you expect it to look like?

You can embed a YouTube playlist using the Inline Frame object with a URL like this:
https://www.youtube.com/embed/videoseries?list=PL9lTQtwNYjdya_jL5sv7j-v7zKFNXjlBa
This will display YouTube's playlist player, starting with the first video. However, it will not display a gallery of all videos with thumbnails, if that is what you are looking for.

I'm not sure whether YouTube still provides a built-in way to display such a gallery.

Also, note that any YouTube embed code that works on a standard HTML webpage should also work in WYSIWYG Web Builder.
The software inserts custom HTML code "AS IS", without modifying its functionality.

Thanks Pablo.

When I put in the frame object and I used your youtube link i get a black box that says youtube video player configuration error error 153

watch video on youtube

if i click the watch video on youtube it just goes to a generic youtube.com page : youtube.com

i am doing this on preview mode. will it be different if i do it on a web server? preivew mode worked fine for single video embeds from youtube.

all i want is a list like youtube gives of the videos in the playlist so that users can click and watch them. i dont need any thumbnails with pictures.

as in this directly below: even without thumbnails just a list of videos
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... d5boYwtU_Q

i am just trying to avoid inputting all 2000 links to individual videos

thank you

You will need to view the page online.

It does not look like YouTube currently provides functionality to display a playlist.
According to the documentation it has been deprecated by YouTube

Youtube has removed the video list button from embedded playlists so you are now required to simply click next on the current video to watch the next video from the playlist. Note this is unrelated to the software in anyway but with YouTube in all there wisdom trying to make things better and manage playlist videos on the like of mobiles/cell phones having to display each video below each other to select what to watch wish could be extremely long as in your instance.

BaconFries:
thank you for your response. my site, built over the last 12 years using the now defunct program webeasy, will no longer show that it is playing a video as part of a playlist. it did that in the past - not sure when i stopped. you can see this nonfunctionality on the link below which shows the first video of one of the playlists.

https://www.video-history-catalysis.org ... -1_082.htm

ie. it does not show any way of either knowing or linking to the other videos that are in the youtube playlist. (there is no next on the video shown). on youtube you easily see the playlist.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XatjCEw ... 3VG407HTwz

I did create and manage this site for the group I am in. I am not however a web expert at all, just one of those nurdy scientists that you see
in the videos. So the loss of the embedded playlists and not even a way to know that there are any is a mystery to me as well as why webeasy left us all stranded. So if i go to the trouble if it is possible to do this in wysiwyg i would like to recreate a new version of the website where i can show a playlist (as unfancy as it might be) so that people can click on the other videos and see what they are and i dont have to link toe near 2000 videos one at a time. Is this an impossibillity to do now? i thought since i was only doing this so far on preview mode and the single videos worked while the playlist did not that maybe i have to put the site on the server to see if plylists works at all. are you saying it is impossible to see the playlist on a website now?

This is not a problem or limitation of Web Easy or WYSIWYG Web Builder.
The reason it no longer works is that YouTube has stopped supporting this feature on external websites.

The functionality is still available on YouTube's own website, but it is no longer supported in embedded players.
As a workaround, you can use a regular link to the YouTube playlist instead of embedding it.

the now defunct program webeasy, will no longer show that it is playing a video as part of a playlist.
This is unrelated to the software you previously used and that of WWB21 it is related to YouTube in there wisdom deprecating/removing it. At onetime you would have saw this but it has been removed (deprecated).

Image
(there is no next on the video shown).
As there is no playlist as before so you have to click on the current YouTube you are watching and you will see the following (next)

As mentioned by Pablo you could just link to the main YouTube which still shows a playlist for users to see and select.
Alternatively there is following extension by Pablo

External Widgets
